Republican Voter Suppression Efforts

If Democrats do win control of the Presidency and Senate and don't do something to fix this in the next session of Congress, like expanding the number of federal judges and SC justices, they may find it impossible to win many close elections in the future, not just presidential but also at the state and local levels, due to GOP-appointed judges allowing more and more restrictions on voting rights. Republicans can try to laugh it off all they want, but it's clear that's why not only Barrett and Kavanaugh, but lower federal judges were appointed - for purely partisan reasons like these. Court packing indeed.

Yep. If this election is remotely close, the GOP will move heaven and earth to challenge the results and take it to the Courts, where they're now virtually guaranteed to get a favorable ruling. It's one of the top reasons why those judges were put in place to begin with.

Yes, republicans have basically gone back to Jim Crow tactics of suppressing the vote but now targeted at any method that seems to lean democratic. They've lost any pretense of truely caring for democracy, its about retailing power and winning at all costs.

just found out this morning that our county wont' start counting mail in ballots until the morning of Nov 4th, at the earliest but will start reporting at 8pm on the 3rd

Wait. what? Counting mail in ballots 11/4?

"Republican-run Cumberland County, which is outside Harrisburg, plans to report results from the polls only beginning at 8 p.m., and will not begin counting mail-in ballots until the following morning, according to Samantha Krepps, a spokeswoman for the county.

"On Election Day we will report the poll numbers, but we have three days to start the canvassing of the mail-in ballot. So, we took the opportunity to focus our attention on the election at the polls and then we will switch gears the next day," Krepps told CNN. "It's just a matter of getting the job done and we are focusing our attention on the polls because they are the most important thing on Election Day.""

There’s really no reason why mail in ballots can’t be counted before Election Day. Honestly I wouldn’t have much of a problem reporting results either. Polling and early vote counts essentially do it already.

I for one do not believe in transparency from our government and elected officials. They are not there for us!
