KanhojiAngre's Playground

English soccer is absolutely dreadful these days. Every game the officials ruin or the play is more like rugby.

Van Persie should have been sent off. If you can get away with tackles like that there might as well not be officials.

19 teams in the Premier League see red on that tackle.

Complete waste of time these days. I think I'm going to start watching the Bundesliga or maybe MLS...seems their officials are better at not ruining games. Even Amish rake fighting is better than this crap. Vermaelen is sure playing like he's trying to lose too.

What a trash product...only way to win is to run your club into debt, gouge your fans and get the refs to make calls for you. There's got to be something better.

Pretty despicable stuff out of England lately...refs racially abusing players, a manager sticking up for the ref and saying he won't even entertain the possibility that it might be true...just complete bizarroworld.

I feel bad for the supporters that actually want to see a good product, because right now they're getting anything but.

United runs a profit aside from paying back the loan that the Glazers threw onto the club with their leveraged buyout. So the club wasn't "run into debt" you idiot. And United's ticket prices are about middle of the PL -- how are the fans being gouged at Old Trafford again?

I've seen challenges like that get a red card about 50% of the time. I held my breath, but it wasn't an automatic red like you are suggesting. Even Macca said it was the right call to just caution RvP for that tackle. That said, I wouldn't want to see him do that again.

Chelsea already backed away on the "Spanish twat" accusations, so we will see what merit there is to the Mikel complaint. I'd be floored if a ref actually said that. However, your immediate acceptance of it being true juxtaposed with your continued insistence that Suarez didn't say anything bad is pretty funny.

Enjoy your mid-table finish. I'm sure that has nothing to do with you jumping ship.

Wait.....is Amish rake fighting a real thing?!? That sounds perfect for ESPN 8, the Ocho.

Terrible...still better than British soccer this season. Though I'm not sure what would constitute a foul...spitting cranberry juice, maybe.

As usual, you're guilty of thinking everything is about Man U...it's the whole league. Prices are high even compared to leagues in countries with superior economies. And I'm not interested in your excuses for why Man U is in debt...just that it is, much like most of the rest of the league. It's been well documented that the German system is more financially sustainable, responsible and fair.

Yeah, it's such a disappointment considering everyone thought Liverpool would be champions this year. I just can't bear the disappointment.

What a maroon.

Questionable playcalling by Holgorsen and co. today

Would be interested to hear what calls in particular you thought were bad. I thought execution was worse than the calls in most cases. Not being able to block a front 4 and having two of your big 3 weapons running at about 50% limits what you can call too.

do you like liverpool to win today?

Was asleep. Didn't watch, not really that interested in watching England for now. Now calls for a f'ing referee boycott of a team because of a claim against a ref for abusive language? Gee, I wonder if Chelsea will start to see the Suarez treatment from the officials. That league has spiraled completely out of control and its their own fault.

Heard someone tried to perform an amputation on Suarez. No surprise -- happens almost every game. He's an amazing athlete just to be able to evade all the terrible challenges thrown at him, let alone score almost a goal per game.

That, the score and the goal scorers is pretty much all I know about it. Watched some of Dortmund yesterday -- there was more action in 10 minutes of that than many English games have in an entire game, and that game didn't even have a goal.

Oh hai there. I see the ACC is not so much concerned about academics anymore, and has out of desperation added a school that even the lowly Big 12 (rated the top football conference in the country by most of the BCS computers) has made clear it does not want.

It is rather odd that the ACC has chosen not to add schools that have all but one of the Big East's BCS bowl bids since 2005, and has also either been beaten for or failed to support adding either of the Big East schools in the NYC market. Are they actively trying to make bad choices? Is Swofford trying to weaken the conference to the point that UNC can make the case that they have no choice but to leave for the Big 10 or SEC?

The defacto Big East championship game tomorrow should be interesting: two teams vying for a championship of a conference that they will soon abandon.

Yes, we're resorting to severely lowering our standards, and we still didn't take WVU.

But I'll let somebody else take it from here.

Liverpool Football Club. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

That is all.

Speaking of Liverpool, KA, download the last MP Red podcast and listen to the first Hillsborough testimonial from a mother of one of the victims. I haven't cried during a movie in 20 years but had I been in anything other than a great mood I would have shed a tear. It will bring American supporters with no real connection to the club a new perspective on LFC.

OK thanks, I will.

WVU is already in the league that Louisville practically begged to take them, a league superior to the ACC in both major men's sports and in revenue generation.

But thanks for your concern. Glad to see people here are still thinking about WVU...even though I didn't mention them once in my last post.

Thanks, I'll do that. Really pretty jaded on the whole of English soccer and the media surrounding it...but maybe it'll do me some good.

Anyone played FM13 yet? Heard they were introducing a fast-play mode so that seasons don't take as long.

If nothing else in the midst of this chaos, the insecurities displayed by MD and WVU defenders have been good entertainment for me

Let's see which league is still standing in a few years. The writing is on the wall that the major conferences (SEC, Big 10, Pac 12) are all heading to 16 teams. When the Pac 12 decides to expand again, where do you think they are heading? WVU will be left to rule the smoldering embers of a conference that will be on the level of CUSA.

Honestly, I don't think the Big 12 is WVU's last stop. When the Big 12 gets torn apart, I think WVU ends up in the SEC or even the ACC since we apparently have no standards anymore.

There's no question KA would be here ripping us anyway if we invited UConn instead

Define "a few". No one's leaving the Big 12 before 2025. There's simply no benefit to it for anyone with the Grant of Rights in force.

16 teams worked so well before...I mean have you seen what the WAC is reduced to lately? No one that was in the 1996 WAC will still be in it next year. Zero. San Jose State was the last one, and they're out for the MWC in 2013-14.

IMO the only way it can work long term is if the conference splits fully and each division gets a playoff berth. I can't see how you keep 16 teams happy in one league. Make it basically two 8-team leagues with two playoff berths under one corporate umbrella and maybe it has a chance. Would have to get to an 8 team playoff first though. They can either engineer that split under their banner, or watch it happen anyway like the Mountain West did. In the long run, it's likely to happen one way or another. History doesn't seem to be on the side of "bigger (for bigger's sake) is better".

The Pac-12 has already made their play for Texas et al and failed, a failure I believe I predicted at the time. The Big 12 is in a much stronger position now than it was then, arguably stronger than the Pac-12. Louisville appealed to the Big 12 before joining the ACC and the Big 12 did nothing. The Pac-12 really doesn't have very many good expansion options, and I don't know that they're looking for any. All the action seems to be back east now.

Not sure why the ACC was in such an all fired hurry to replace Maryland really. Having a replacement lined up hurts their position re: getting their exit fee from Maryland. Perhaps they were afraid of the house of cards falling down all at once. Maybe they were afraid the playoff deal and revenue shares would be revisited.

IMO, the Big 10 and ACC are ruining college sports. The Big 10 is destroying two hockey conferences with their stupid 6 team hockey league, and the ACC has somehow managed to kill Big East football without improving their own football fortunes. It's mind-boggling.
