A rat

I've only made it to somewhere on page 7 of this thread. Not sure if I'll get to read the rest.

Somehow this image comes to my mind:

Today, the rats took it to the next level and posted personal information about the worst's worst mod. God damn, I laughed my ass off when I saw this loser's pathetic website, but I was offended because there is an implicit social contract that we all agree to when we post on a message board. Anonymity empowers us to act like douchebags. You take that away and the conversation gets really fucking boring.

Between fits of laughter, I summoned my admin-level knowledge of vbulletin, my vast network of proxy-hidden aliases, and Internet protocol sniffing tools, and determined the identity of the information leaker. I will not out this person, because I am not a rat. I will note that the offender is pretty damned obvious.

If you have a remaining shred of decency, I suggest you contact the moderator team and beg for their mercy. You are a good poster, even though I fuck with you. I hope you will do the right thing.

My God. I normally don't read even a tenth of the threads here and don't have a clue who is pissed off at who on any given day/lifetime. Nor do I care, really. I only read this one to find out what the big ta-do was with all of the locked threads. From a relative outsider's view (one that really only enjoys the YLYL and a few other threads and knows absolutely no one here), this thread reads like a bunch of Ham radio geeks arguing about who is cooler.

That is all. Carry on.

Edited to say: I get what happened. It happened. Mistakes happen. Consequences happen. Move on.

Is this admin-level knowledge of vbulletin, vast network of proxy-hidden aliases, Internet protocol sniffing tools, and general Sherlock Holmes-esque investigation skills how you garnered the fabulous tidbit of information that [Redacted] wouldn't be here for longer than a month from roughly a week ago?

If so, that's all I need to know.

Wait, he has a website? Or just the company page or something.

Without knowing what was posted: It's really not hard to figure out who people are with some simple Google searching. I mean obviously it shouldn't be linked to or posted around, but if people really don't want others to know who they are IRL, giving out any sort of details about yourself (like, say, your ethnicity, or the city you live in, or the job you have, or the law school you went to) is pretty dumb. It's dumber when you're doing it on a message board whose members are pretty much exclusively graduates from a tiny university.

It was a link to his personal profile on his company website, contact info and history included. Definitely not something that should be posted without permission.

Was Hideki Matsui someone's parody account?
