Why do you "not expect him to"?

He's a rookie player who is going to struggle at times. What do you think Randolph Childress says to him after a tough spell -- one shooter to another? That he "sucks" and ought to never shoot in a live game again?

These are some young players and overall the class has exceeded most expectations. Tyler can play. Jim Boeheim doesn't give you a scholarship because you "live nearby"...lots of fuggin guys "live nearby" and never get so much as a sniff from the Orange.

I've seen enough of this kid to know he can shoot and I encourage him to keep shooting.
 
Freshmen usually hit the proverbial wall in mid-Feb or so. I think the worst is yet to come.

We would have at least split with Les Robinson in 1993. Other than that, yeah, finding a W would be tough.

Clemson lost to Coastal Carolina, so I assume you are using the term "real" teams quite broadly. ;)

True. I forgot that team was right between Googs' senior year and Todd Fuller's emergence as a sophomore and one of the two years Bryant Feggins was injured.

You mean besides the fact that he hasn't hit shots in the past? Stats tend to be a little more reliable of a predictor than whatever feeling you have in your belly. That's just the Bigmac you housed for lunch. Hell, look no further than your predictions for the last 4 years of football...

Guess it depends on whose expectations you're referring to. The basketball lectros were predicting far greater things than we've seen. All in all, we're ahead of where I thought we'd be as a team, but I think CJ and Travis are responsible for most of that. The freshmen are about what I expected. Not the saviors many predicted.

What have you seen, besides missing 70% of his shots and 81% of his 3 point attempts that let's you KNOW he can shoot? We're not talking one game here...we're talking season long stats, many of which were earned against cupcakes of a much easier level than anything Wake played pre-Bz. Now that we are seeing ACC defenses (as bad as the ACC is), I don't really expect his shooting to get better. Especially not the way his head was hanging against Clemson. I really hope it does, but I have no idea why you would expect it to.

They're a damn powerhouse compared to the cupcakes we've been front loading our schedule with.
 
This thread managed to get Ph vs. leBone AND Racer vs. Lectro going at the same time!

Racer, the freshman have actually done much better than I was expecting (maybe I underrated the class) but agree that it was impossible for them to meet the expectations that Buzzinners and wait-n-seers HAD to set for them. They are likable and all that but not top-half ACC talent.

His misses are frequently right or left instead of long or short which is not a good sign

No, I did not. What do you mean chance? By my book, we HAVE to get 18 wins to give Bzd another year. We could get to 18 with 15 regular season wins sure, We could get 16 wins regular season and 2 more post season. Don't get why we can't just say 18 wins. Why make it difficult?

18 wins and Bzd saves his job. We all know this. The fear is that 16 or 17 wins will too. But 18 wins and pretty sure Wellman won't give a crap what the fan base says or thinks or puts on a billboard or t-shirt. Another losing record, which is 15 wins this year will force his hand. 16 wins and I don't know. Hoping it means new coach, but until that day, full-on in.

You can think this is stupid but I've been consistent on this since well before the season started.
 
If $$$ is an issue, would rather see Battle, LaRue, & Chill takeover the program even if it is for a couple of seasons...Know Battle is a good recruiter, have a strong feeling Chill would be also, since he bleeds the schools colors...

That aside, while it's certainly possible we win 18 games, do you think it is likely?

If money is an issue we need to join the SoCon. It would be an awkward situation you describe, especially if things don't go well. We need a serious coach right now, and maybe we'll be back in the mix in two years.

6 of our 11 non-conference games were against teams better than Coastal Carolina. 4 of the 11 are probably tossups with Coastal and then Furman is, well really bad.

He has to keep his access with WFU or we won't have anything to read and he will be expendable. Lay off Dan...he provides the best traditional media coverage of Wake and he's a good guy as well.
