2013 Old Gold and Black Boards Fundraiser

Definitely IN. Should not be difficult to find 300 posters that can give $20. This board is a great tool for information: sports and otherwise.

I would check the language of this offer very carefully. You shyster lawyers have a funny way with language, and I would not be surprised if there is a loophole in this contract!

I, Marquee Moon, being of sound mind and body, pledge that if you dwarves* contribute $2500.00 by the end of the fundraiser, I will drop the mic and step down as MODERATOR of THESE BOARDS.

Have you guys thought about charging something like $1 to register a username on the boards? Seems like an easy way to keep somewhat of a steady flow coming in.

why doesn't this make sense? it'd be a somewhat steady flow of income rather than one-off fundraisers.

It's the internet. People expect things to be free. If you add a charge, however small, you'll kill the number of users who sign up. Plus, Moonz would be left to decide whether to register more parodies or pay his mortgage.

Do you think that would inhibit people from joining? My other thought, is it would appear to be a subscription based message board rather than a board supported by member's donations.

Just had this image of a aging ATL hipster crunching the numbers on his kitchen counter trying decide if he can afford to keep his whole stable of parodies and $1300 dinners.

If you do try to extort any special treatment, or pull the "I'm an owner of this board now" card, we reserve the right to out your weaselly ways to the entire community.

This board is so awesome.

Not really... would a $1 registration fee keep you from joining?

I don't like having to get my credit card out to sign up for something .
That is an excellent point.

Coming from the various incarnations of the boards over the years, it wouldnt keep me at all. Had there been a $1 fee way back when I first started posting, I would have probably said screw this.
