BZZ Out Rumor

The powers that be have to know fans are unhappy and that the national focus has moved to the cluster f our program has become. Do they care? We'll see.

DG's sources at WF: heading into postseason evaluation of [Redacted], key decision-makers "overwhelmingly' in favor of keeping him for 13-14

It is disturbing how our Athletic Department and key members of the BOT have developed an "us vs. them" mentality between their faith in Wellman/Bz vs. the 99% of the fans who are up in arms over the current situation. Ron Wellman in his decision and unwavering support of Buzz has alienated a small but extremely faithful and dedicated fanbase that need to be united for Wake Forest to thrive. It is devastating to our great fans when the AD's response is to blow off and question the decency of fans who demand success over whatever platitudes and plans are driving Bz's tenure at Wake Forest.

When the fans speak out, LISTEN to their concerns. We are smart people who understand the reality of the awful situation that was brought about by an extremely questionable buddy hire under the oddest of circumstances. The results have confirmed everybody's worst fears about Bz, Wellman, and the direction of our program. If Wellman has a presser and fully supports/brings Bz back and rips into the fans who haven't given him a chance and supported the school (which is a very strong possibility), expect most of the fans to just give up on you. You can't run a program where your biggest supporters are ready to tear you to shreds over your downright awful hire and refusal to address their concerns. Own up to the reality and address it in a meaningful way. The way our AD is run like a fiefdom is an absolute joke and the fans deserve better.

Please be out buzz. You have had 3 years to prove that you are a good coach but those years have all gone down the drain! Its time for you to never coach a game of basketball ever again. You can always coach ping pong.

I agree that Wake is a national school and that we shouldn't let admissions slide for athletic support.

Being a townie and a student though, I can tell you that Wake is looked at by most young students as a "yankee school with no local support." Some great kids who got into other great schools weren't accepted in that class, and would have made great students (and great fans) for four years. My 2 cents.

Not to belabor the point but if those kids are so clueless as to 1) care about north vs south; or 2) think Wake has a larger portion of students from areas outside the south then I'm not too concerned they went somewhere else. I'm sure AppState or Coastal Carolina appreciates their contributions.

It was worse in the 90's. Nobody even wore Wake colors to basketball games. The Screamin Deacons were referred to as the Screamin Semens and had horrible black t-shirts with just the Deacon head logo on them. At that time, over 40% of the student body was from NC. Nobody ever went in to the football games. Tailgated, went home, watched an SEC game and checked the radio or the 1990's shit internet for the Wake score.

I thought we were called the "Creamin' Demons"!! C'mon mayne, get it right!

Honestly, what is wrong with trying to pull more quality students from NC? Most of good friends from my time at Wake in the early to mid 90's were from North Carolina and chose Wake OVER Carowhina. That is NEVER a bad thing.

Do you not think we didn't have these EXACT same complaints about the students and fanbase in 1999-2003? Of course we did. That was what made Skip Prosser coming to wake in my junior year so great. He turned it all around. And he didn't do it by changing the fans.

Of course you did, and I had the same thoughts and complaints from 05-10. But it's naive to think that the makeup of the student body has changed significantly since '94 or '03.

DG doesn't have sources. He was wrong so many times about the UNC Investigation based on his "sources"...

Scratch that, DG has sources...but he's gullible as hell. He believed the "all is well" BS from his inside sources at UNC and he won't question the "all is well" BS he's being fed from Wake either.

Key decision-makers is are and be those known as Ron Wellman, so its no surprise he is in favor. Plus, the proficy, er, rumor, states this shit is coming from above the head of said decision makers.

I'm guessing the key decision-makers are people beholden to Wellman.

I can't tell if this is a real post or not. If it's real, then no. Wake is not a state school, and there is no reason to give anyone who merely lives nearby any preference just for potential athletic support.

The percentage of NC residents at Wake is quite high compared to the % of in-state residents at our peer schools.

Time for another " I have a friend story"....guy I know is season ticket holder and is good friends with Skip Brown. We were discussing the bz failure and he says Skip and others in DC are not happy. Not sure what good it does but at least 1 former player isn't happy. But I'm sure there are plenty of other DC members happy with the new "culture".

Holy crap ballz!! One thing that has certainly changed in 20 years is the cost of attending. I went to WFU for 1/3 of the cost to attend. Well, probably 1/5 of the yearly cost after you factor in financial aid. I knew it was getting expensive, but oh mon dieu!

Per the WFU website, an average of 25% of enrollment comes from North Carolina since 2004-05. Isn't that quite a bit lower than the early 90's. I thought it was in upwards of 40% when I enrolled in '92. Hell, I know over half my freshman hall was from N.C. Out of 20 of us, pretty sure 9 or 10 were from Carolina.

Was about 30% when I was there - that's really quite large. If you include SC and VA, still a majority of the school coming from the immediate area. Why hate on the fact that Wake is a great school and that peeps from all over the country now try to attend? What is so bad about that? Wake has done its best to maintain its roots and charm of having an NC identity...heck, that's what I loved about it. NC is now like my adopted home state. I LOVE THE WAY YOU BALL NORTH CAROLINA

Wake has a good balance of Southern charm and national representation. I would like to know the percentage of eligible high schoolers in the area who apply to Wake. I bet it's lower than people expect.
