2013 Pit Fantasy Baseball League (Year III)

We have a draft tonight too for our MD Orioles people...AL only, auction style. I haven't done fantasy baseball in six years, never done auction, and haven't prepped one bit. It's gonna go great!

So if somebody could give me a basic auction strategy, that would be great. Thanks.

Could go stars and scrubs. Get Trout and Miguel and then go cheap everywhere else, getting ABs. How many teams? My auctions this year, I have ignored the first round guys, and gotten 3 of the guys in Upton, Heyward, Tulo, Beltre category.

IMO, since it's AL only - I would go for the Studs and Scrubs. Not sure what your budget is, but try to get 2-3 top hitters and an ace like Verlander or Price. Just like the NCCA tourney - a lot of parity out there and bargains can be had late in the auction.
 
don't spend money on closers. especially if it's h2h. get cheap, high k/low era relievers that might eventually be the closer. then own the waiver wire looking for saves.

Has Franklin Gutierrez been drafted yet? I hope he is around in Round 3.
 
Sorry for the technical failures in the draft room but I think I'm the only one that got screwed so that's good. No idea what was going on but as you can see below, it was telling me it was my pick randomly during other's supposed picks, and then the draft order was never accurate at the top.

well I had fun in our MD board Orioles one, I won't clog your thread up with my results though. Not yet since you guys did yours tonight as well, but went for the all or nothing strategy. Might be wasting Verlander though, dunno if his support is up for it
 
I'll post our AL-only draft now if anybody feels like tossing any strategy out. A lot of us were auction draft virgins, but it was awesome. I'm gonna make everything anonymous, except the auto-draft roster is obvious. And of course if you see any players missing that would be good values that could be appreciated. :eek:hnoes:

Actually, I kinda like my team as a re-draft team. Keeper options for next year may be sparse. No super power hitters, but lots of guys that can put up all around numbers.

RP is weak and I hate Axford out of principal, but Wainwright, CC & Scherzer are a pretty solid 1/2/3 punch
 
Since nobody bit, I'm team #10. Probably dropping Jamie Carroll for Ronny Cedeno assuming nobody else claims him off waivers.
