The #Buzzout #Wellmanout Billboard: Development Thread

My guess is the campus police would not be kind if you planned a mass littering protest on the Quad.

What's the latest on the billboard? Are we going with a baby theme? Are all of the students on Spring Break? Answers people!

How about this one, in support of our AD?

I would favor holding the money over for future BuzzOut projects, but if we would do something to charity, why not do something like that? It would be hilarious. I don't give two fucks about what outsiders think of our intent, and giving to charity really isn't going to change the minds of the 4 people left on earth who are still BuzzIn and think that we are the lunatic fringe. To throw extra money towards some kind of goodwill for the sake of PR is as futile as retaining Buzz, IMHO.

But giving to a brain trauma charity and doing so in the name of Ron Wellman, a brain trauma victim, would be pretty fucking funny. Callous as hell and most certainly in bad taste, but if you aren't going to please Wellman anyway, might as well piss him off more.

How about another ad in the OG&B with the surplus? Something to the effect:

We're not happy and it's not over.
firebzz.com

Is there really a surplus? Imo all the funds should go to putting the best possible billboard in the best available spot. Spreading limited funds across more avenues will dilute the shock value. A simple and amazing billboard will get a shit ton of coverage, but a mediocre billboard with flyers, ogb ad, etc. Will not provide the same effect in my opinion.

Good point, MAC. Does Wellman pass a prominent billboard on his way into work?
But should we care if and make it a priority that Wellman sees it though? He clearly does not care about the fans opinions (minus the select few who he's entranced). Billboard is better served by being in the most optimal viewing location for the general public or the place with the biggest bang for the buck (not necessarily the best but still very good and allows another message - whether a billboard, skywriting, or stripper-gram.

Because people don't want to be cited by the police? Especially if they're students?

dude best not tell your neighbors youd be worried about a little littering citation when trying to preach the truth against the man. not very sf, bro.

At first I thought this.. and then I could imagine the headlines online "Wake Fans put "Fire Wellman" billboard on Ron Wellmans Route to Work". That is the effect we want. I know RW isnt going to do shit regardless, but it would be epic is the media picked up on both aspects and basically humiliated him on top of having to see it himself every day. Where does he live? I would guess is some cookie cutter new money neihborhood.. A million dollar house with 4 more within 3 feet of his walls. Cheap man made lake, corny fountain with swans. No trees. His neighbors consisting of trashy car dealership owners and a few that have "sweepstakes" venues across rural NC..

good idea. wellman needs to know this is not going away just bc of the announcement he made earlier this week.

Card just got charged. Wife is pissed to find out that I donated money to a Billboard, but fuck it, I'm happy anyways.

LOL. Mine too. She usually doesn't talk to much about sports or anything but mentioned how she saw all over facebook about Buzz and I tried explaining the #buzzout movement to her and that a billboard was in the process of being funded. She thinks the billboard would be a waste of money because Wellman is still keeping Buzz. Someone else said the same thing to me but I really feel like unless you keep close tabs on this program (like most of us here), it's hard to understand how we feel and that we are all tired of sitting back letting the ship sink further and further into a black hole. I truly think if you believe in something and have passion for it, it's really hard to just sit back and let it get destroyed.

It's not about convincing Wellman to keep Buzz. It's about shaming Wellman and the powers that be through the publicity.

Sorry I couldn't give to this. Similar reasons to those above. Already will need to defend the ad contribution.
