Watch Spring Game Live-ACC Network

Many schools invite recruits to attend the spring game. Hope we didn't.
Chubb and Middleton were there. I hope only defensive recruits made it. The coaches are trying to put lipstick on a pig with all this "happy talk". They know how bad it was. Look at the five OLs during the video. They couldn't drive block anybody one-on-one. The QBs were under pressure all day. Emert is a fuck-up as a blocker. Those injured guys can not come back soon enough.

In follow-up of 76's above post....

I watched the YouTube film of the 'scrimmage' twice and obviously paid particular attention to the O-line. That group - save for maybe 4-5 misdirection calls - was like a 6th grade fire drill after every snap....basically mayhem. Does anyone know who #77 and and #71 are ? They were the only two who looked somewhat competitive to me. And sorry, but anyone counting on Chase and Ford bolstering this motley crew is dreaming.

After last year's on field and off field disaster, I was hoping Grobe would somehow right the ship with a much improved Spring. Him not being a coach of anything has caught up with me and him IMO. He got away with that when he had two top notch Offensive and Defensive Coordinators to successfully run the respective schemes. Those guys are now long gone on to greener pastures and their replacements are not even in the same area code ability wise.

According to the Tuesday morning Winston-Salem Journal, Grobe "feels good about the O-line right now."

See the link in my post....

“I feel good about the O-line right now,” Grobe said. “The thing about our offensive line right now is they’re good guys, they work hard

Good guys working hard and not winning. Wake Forest Sports.

That sums it all up right there. Wellman's vision in two succinct sentences.

BTW, I should have made it clear in my above post that I do think we appear to have a guy with the credentials as an O-line coach. Unfortunately for him/us is Lobo left him very little to work with....aka a mess with a couple royal knotheads to boot.

I think Himebauch has good potential too, don't know how long he will stay here though.

As if we needed more evidence that no one in our AD gives a damn about actually winning anymore.

This can't be real, can it?

I just started watching the Spring Game. Did every drive start at the 35? If so, that makes the offense look even worse. It's also very unrealistic. I can't find out average starting position, but we were next to last in the country in average kickoff return yards with 16.5.

yes - every turnover or 4th down they reset to the 35 and changed QBs.

Is that how they've been doing all the scrimmages? Isn't the point to mimic game situations? We only started at or beyond the 35 a handful of times all season.

and FSU showed the country to kick it to our 5 and make us try and return it

One of the most embarassing things I have ever seen from a Wake team, was at last years FSU game when we had two players on the field with the same number. A close second was Tanner calling a TO with 3 seconds left in the 3rd Qtr vs Maryland. Take a look at the Alabama spring game, and watch the Nicktator coach everything. That's because everything is important to him. Some of the blame can be put on the players, but if excellence isn't expected from them, they'll never achieve it because they never have to. Grobe doesn't realize that if the ship sinks, its the Captains fault.

He really said this? So he's confident in the O-Line because they're good guys who work hard? Holy LOWF.
