Ari Stewart officially gone

Hey, rj...

user
@AriStewart20 Sorry our crappy coach ran you off. In 2 yrs we'll be pulling for you in the tourney like @Skeen21

@user lol thanks

Doesn't seem like Ari is all that interested in refuting that Buzz ran him off, now does it?

That's awesome! And it's true. I bet Ari makes the tourney before Wake does.. especially if we keep this assclown past next year.

He could have made up a story that he got injured in practice and could not play. That would have been better, surely.

Not saying he SHOULD have done that, but I'm saying your statement that making up a story about a kid not working hard enough in the class room is not the BEST he could have done for Ari.

Come on. You can't make up injuries to players. A coach would lose all credibility with his team and the fans if he starts making up injuries for players who aren't putting in the effort in the classroom, on the court, wherever.

As [Redacted] clearly showed with all the second chances he's given Melvin maybe he was hoping Ari would come around.

My bad on this board not saying [Redacted] is a combination of an idiot, the devil and a horrible coach is frowned upon.

That is simply not true. I don't care if people want to give him another chance, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I, however, don't think he should get another year as I believe that will just hurt the program more. And I think I have every right to express that opinion in whatever manner I please. Just as you have the right to express your opinion however you please.

Ari ran Ari off.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but why can't a player just request a transfer because he wants one? Maybe he doesn't feel like he fits in and he just wants to go somewhere else. It happens all the time to college kids who don't play sports; sometimes it just doesn't end up being how you thought it would be.

Why does there need to be a reason that paints him in a negative light, such as academic issues, or being disagreeable in practice, breaking team rules, etc.?

Nah, I agree with you. I just don't think Dv7 was really vilifying Bzz in this thread as much as you seem to think.

Yeah, I very rarely blame a coach for telling a kid to leave if he doesn't want them around his program. Buzz had the full right to kick Ari off his team.

But to squarely put the lost relationship on Ari's shoulders and his shoulders alone doesn't sit well with me. The coach/player relationship is a two way street.

Like Anthony Gurley?

Ari did not confirm anything.

I'd be stunned if there isn't a lot more to this situation than we know.

Last year Ari was already upset about being away from home. I followed him on Twitter back then and he was constantly stating how hard it was at Wake for him sometimes. I believe he felt like he didn't fit in, and when Dino Gaudio was fired (a coach that he had known for a long time), and Coach [Redacted] was brought in, it was probably the straw that broke the camel's back.

I still fail to see why claiming academic issues is helping the kid, if he indeed just didn't feel like he fit in and academics were not actually the reason.

Obviously maybe it was worse (he had a crappy attitude, etc.), so saying it's academic is better than saying that. But why not just do the nice thing and not say any reason that makes Ari look bad if it's not necessary? :noidea:

And I fully recognize that I'm naive in this situation... not trying to bait, just trying to understand.

I don't knoes, maybe there really were academic issues (that may have been the result of some of those feelings) so they just mentioned those and left it at that.

He got suspended from the ACC tournament. That was held over Spring Break.

What academic issues was he working on when nobody was on campus?

As in 99% of these situations, there is much more that we'll never know than will show up on the internet.

Didn't we kind of expect this, anyway? I believe there were multiple people saying, based on previous examples with [Redacted], some players were likely to leave.

Like I said earlier, best of luck to Ari, but the sooner we get [Redacted] recruits in at Wake, the sooner we'll know if he's going to turn it around or fail miserably and get the boot. I don't care which it is, I just want it to get here asap.

The only reason for conversation or dispute regarding Ari leaving is to bash [Redacted]. Anyone who watched Ari this season could see that he did not play well enough to deserve substantial play time. Whether that was because he did not want to play for Bz or whether he simply does not possess the tools to play at this level, is a question I cannot answer. No one should be surprised that he is leaving. Sadly, no one should think it is a loss to the team given his performance. That is not to say that he is a bad kid. I do not know him. But he did not play well enough to stick on any ACC team. Perhaps he will mysteriously play better somewhere else. I wish him well.

But this conversation is about how Bz miserably failed in some way or another.

Just read that tweet. Interesting... I guess he was one of the victims of the "my way or the highway" ultimatum that was going to occur after this season.

The most important thing about picking a college is to pick the right one for you. Obviously for a Division I athlete the issues are more complex than for most of us, i.e. right for educational purposes and right for social life. In addition, for athletes the team and the style has to be right too. A lot of things have to click for an athlete to be at home. (It is true, of course, that athletes get more help in making the adjustment, but then more is expected of them as well.)

I see this board is full of all the losers, whiners, misfits, jerkwads, and a$$clowns who give Wake fans a bad name. You are pathetic jokes as fans and people. Your foolishness is exceeded only by your ignorance.
