The #FireWellman Billboard: CBSSports, CNNSI, ESPN, Sporting News, SBN, WSJ, Yahoo

Hell, you could just be some kind of State troll trying to make us look bad in the eyes of the coaching fraternity.

"If [Redacted] turns it around next year and proves us all wrong, all of us will be the first to cheer," Stratton told WXII.

This was a brilliant move, Strattocaster.

After Wellman media day I just got so ticked I wanted Wellman to be embarrassed so that is why I donated. I mean I don't actually care about Wake basketball at this point.

You had me except for the bolded. We are special and I hope we always remain special. We may not need to be the shining example of what is right in college sports, but we should remain a shining example. There is no reason we cannot do that while being successful.

Well, that's kind of what I meant. I mean, college kids are going to screw up so we shouldn't over react and assume that any problems are a problem of lack of culture in athletics. If culture is the problem, it's probably more the culture of college rather than the culture of the basketball coach that is to blame.

Holy smokes, just went to check my email on Yahoo! and BOOM, there on the front page is the billboard story. My heart skipped a beat. Good job, fellas!

Lol at all the people in the Yahoo! comments section lecturing us on priorities.

So much for the theory that the timing of the billboard going up right now would ensure that the media would ignore it...

Still really hate the idea of another billboard right before the season starts. Just seems like right now it puts pressure where it's deserved - on Wellman and the coaching staff. If you put one up right before the season it's at the expense of the players. I think it'd be much more affective (and less harmful to the players we support) to just update the current billboard with new stats/messages over the next two months to make absolutely sure next season is a referendum on [Redacted] and Wellman. None of this "won 4 more games, we're improving" crap.

We do return a lot of young talent, and we might actually be decent next year. Stranger things have happened. Attacking the team before their first game is going to be extremely polarizing to the fan base - I think a much heavier majority of alumni would be against it. Might even be better to wait until we're 2-8 in the ACC and then put the screws to Wellman to go ahead and pull the trigger.

Where are you seeing that? All I keep seeing on the front page on Yahoo is how Winnie Cooper breastfed her kid until he was 2 1/2.

Ugh, I just went straight to the front page. And there it was. I think Yahoo changes their cycle of top stories slightly each time you visit the homepage.
