Back to the Future: Wake Forest returns to LB U

My takeaway is that ph spent a crazy amount of time searching for posts to embarrass lectro and instead found posts that backup what he said. It's like ph blew a load in his own face and is now grinning through it.

I hope lectro is right. I like our defensive front line but they require a bunch of fast strong talented linebackers who can hit gaps and cause some pain for our defense to be great again. And we need some qb pressure from them as well. Qbs have had way too much time to throw on us te last few years

Awesome. Thanks.

In my time as a Wake follower I've not seen as much overall depth and experience on the D-Line as the Deacs have now.

3 Sr's are slated across the front and the Deacs return the future of the DL in Tylor Harris.
Harris has had a huge offseason and while "Big Baby"was effective at 250 he is now a powerhouse at 290 pounds. His athleticism and body type is nearly identical to former NCSU 5 star recruit DeMario Pressley. Harris is exceptionally quick and has rare size for a Deacon End.

Also need to note the gains made by another raw boned athlete in Josh Banks out of Fayetteville. Josh is 6'4 plus and 280 pounds and he still has plenty of frame to fill out. Looking forward to this kid and Soph Desmond Floyd (6'5-265) making some waves this year on the 2 Deep.

That took 5 minutes to find. The search function is easy.

Point is he hyped up Haynes and Betros. Not hard to see.

Moving forward....early enrollee and Spring standout Marquel Lee -- the D.C. Product has adapted quickly -- former HS QB has shown a natural feel for LB and really gets to the ball with a lot of aggression. 6'3 and 220 going into the summer -- 4.55 40 yards. He has a way to go in the weight room but has made impressive strides since last year at this time (200 lbs).

Another kid pushing to get on the 2 Deep.

You said your comments about Riley Haynes and Betros were "very limited".

I showed they weren't and you had quite a bit of praise for them. Everybody can look and decide for themselves.

I did. I think the kindest way to put it - and maybe fairest - is that we all see what we want to see. You WANTED to see hypocrisy and think you found it. I WANTED you to fall on your face and I see that scenario.

I don't think posting someone's height and weight and saying they are getting to the gaps better now that they are seniors is stroking the hell out of them. Read like Lectro liked those guys because they were Deacs and as seniors they had become solid players due to experience, but that the faster more athletic guys coming up had/have more upside side.

Thank you. I never saw any of those guys outside of a chance to give quality Sr depth. Wake needs that desperately...the 2nd 22 are just as important -- those guys fit the bill of "quality depth" and that's about it.

Now then, for full disclosure...I have been a bit underwhelmed by both Olson and Ziggy. I really want to see those guys reach their considerable physical abilities. They have all the tools -- time to make it happen or watch some young bloods roll in and and supplant them.

Anyone have a link to the Nease HS recruiting page? It listed all the kids and their offers.

My dilemma as a fan today is...how do I talk about all these kids!

Clearly some guys will not make it...but if you are just looking at straight assed athletic ability...Man, you gotta be blind to not see. Plenty of You tubes and Hudl on all these guys. See for yourselves for God Sakes. It's like 7-8 guys with the potential of Stanley Arnoux and then some.

Possibly the top prospect from 2013 -- Lance Virgile 6'2.5 and 225. Look,it does not take any "Oracular ability" to say "gee, that guy is built, can change direction, hits like a brick and flies to the ball with abandon."

No doubt that the front 7 on the defense is the most talented since 2008. Barring injuries the defense should be significantly improved this year. Things might be very interesting if WF had the type of OL that could control clock and grind teams down. Have not seen that yet. So, I am concerned that we will see many games like the UVA and MD games last year; ugly low-scoring close games that get decided by turnovers and one big play.

Lectro, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the young guys. I hope you're right about them. But, Abbate was a dwarf who's 40 was timed with a calender. I loved his game because he brought everything he had on every play. These new guys dominated against 16 yr olds. Let them grow and develope. Let's forgive them if they're not Lawrence Taylor just yet. The reason we signed 6 of them is that we're hoping that 4 of them pan out. The guys who are going to win this season are already on campus as upperclassmen.

Hopefully that is where the defense will thrive and be opportunistic.

I have heard really, really good things about Corey Helms so far and he very well could be our starting center at some point this year.

If we had Sam Swank, I'd see 9 wins. This season can go in so many directions.

Re: Helms, I am worried that some of Helms' current rep is based on how big the hole is we may need him to fill as much as it is based on how big his current talent level is.

That has been the case for a lot of players over the years. Expect a lot of hype for whoever is left at RB after everything is sorted out.

What I learn about recruits from Lectro on these threads: Names, Positions, Sizes, where they went to highschool, who else offered them

A 40+ year old man that is a serial jock sniffer for college athletes, no matter the athlete, is quite remarkable. And not in a good way, but in a creepy way.

lectro creeps me the fuck out.

I wonder what Lectro would think about 75% of those athletes walking around in a hoodie on a rundown neighborhood street? But that's a question for another thread.

Honestly, I think Lectro's experience colored his position on that thread. He hears about a kid who is 6-3/158 and thinks he's the second coming of some former great WR.

I shouldn't have posted that, it was a stupid thing to put on the sports board. Lets just stay on topic of how YouTube ruined Grobe.
