BBall Recruiting Megathread 3.0 - The Manning era begins: The Harry Giles Chronicles

Oh wow. I'm surprised that guys who have higher star ratings have done better than guys who have lower star ratings.

Or another way you could say this is:

Oh wow. I'm surprised that guys who professional scouts and college coaches liked the most performed better than other guys.

DC, the "outlier' for Final Four teams is getting players to stay a year longer than they "should" or get freshmen who would never have gone to college under the old system.

Didn't we know this was going to happen once he blew up? Was he considered a strong possibility?

To my knowledge, he is our #1 target remaining in 2014. Perhaps others can weigh-in, but we have been on him and aggressively for awhile now.

We seemingly identified him earlier than others. It's good that we were on him early so we stick out.

They've got Paige, Britt, Berry and probably Pinson as guards. There may not be minutes for him.

I'm not going to get excited but a lineup of:

Mitchell
CMM
Johnson
Moto
Thomas

Would be nice.

Marcus Paige is a 6 foot PG. Nate Britt is a 6 foot 1 PG who has tumbled down the rankings out of the T100. Joel Berry is a 6 foot PG that Roy recruited over Britt because of his tumble down the rankings after his commitment. Theo Pinson is more of a slashing SF type not known for having three point range.

Robert Johnson is a knock down three point shooting SG filling in a big gap after Hairston's departure. Do not see any of those other guys threatening his PT.

How tall is Johnson? I have admittedly not been keeping up with his commitment. I thought he was a 3?

We are definitely looking for a 2014 SG with the aggressive pursuit of Devin Mitchell, Robert Johnson, and Miles Fisher-Davis and 1 big guy (Quadri Moore, Haas, O'Mara) to go with them.

Joke as we may, Robert Johnson did say that he really likes our coaching staff. Additionally, wants to play immediately which he could.

Side note - not sure why the thread title says 8/24 for Haas. 247 Sports has him visiting 8/30.

Exactly the allure of coming to Wake. Great education (of course), play against the best, and actually PLAY!

You've certainly summed up the only allure we have under Bzz. With real leadership, the allure was once a great education while competing with and beating the best. Only losers sign up just to play against the best. Even bigger losers pimp that as our allure on the recruiting trail or in fan forums.

Ehh, I thought we had no shot at Mitchell given the shit-storm that is our program. I was pleasantly surprised then so I'll hold on to a small speck of optimism for Johnson and this class

Did Johnson grow up a Wake fan? (I honestly don't know, but if not, that would be a big difference between Shelton and him in this process.)
