2014 FB Recruiting Thread: Signing Day is this Wednesday!

I have not missed the best 2 year period of lb/de recruiting. I am extremely excited about all of our newest defensive Deacs. My point about Khein is that you can never have too many high character 6'3" defensive players who can run.

Just making an honest assessment... He looks like a decent prospect. I don't know what sort of frame he has -- he may have a build like Josh Banks and be a guy who will end up 285. I see us get our hopes up every year for these 4 star kids and I thought some "early honesty" might ease the "angst" when this kid decides to go elsewhere.

More than that is the lack of eye sight from our fan base. I mean really, are you able to watch film and determine anything on your own or do you need someone to tell you what the fk you are looking at?

Take Ali Lamot's film or Duke Ejiofor (if you have a concern about Lamot's comp.) -- make an assessment of the film and the relative data at hand (camp times, shuttle, growth and development and productivity).

Please, one of you make your own comparison between Ejiofor and this fine young man out of Gilman.

If I heard any of you hyping the guys you already have then I'd let it slide. You assholes have sat on your keypads and have completely missed the best 2 year period of LB/DE recruiting this puny fuggin University has ever had. Period!

I'd compare him to Jaylen Miller, who went to UT, from last years class. He's a very good football player. He doesn't explode out of his stance, but has a real good motor. I think JTJ has better athleticism. We can play him in a hy-bred OLB like James Harrison in the old Pittsburgh days. It's up to him to develope. To go from beating up 16 yr olds to beating up college All Americans.

RIVALS.COM reports that we have offered Lehigh Acres FL DT Joshua Kendall. He's a 2* with an Arkansas offer. Listed at 6'2" 275lbs. He has offers from 4 other schools which are not BCS.

Arkansas offer for an OL? Brent Bielema can spot OL studs.

I read an article on Lamot. Sounds like at least one true freshman LB will be playing this year.

The offer for Lamot was ridiculed by many of this board at the time ....

I went back and clicked on the first 8-10 threads for "Lamot" that I searched for and nearly every single post was how people thought he would be a great signing at LB. Where are you finding this stuff?

Maybe I didn't go back far enough, but the stuff I did find was positive. Not saying you are wrong, but just want to see where you got this from.

I don't know that he will be the shirt that will be pulled. But one will

Still hard to believe that after years of being told redshirting and experience was key and youth was bad, pulling redshirts from the #58 rated class is the answer.

It's a numbers thing. we're 2 deep at safety and have only 6 LBs from last year. We have 5 interior OLs from last year. Who will play special teams? All the starters? I can see the red-shirts coming off when they need to, sort of like Orville 2 years old.

This is a big class for us, 25 or so. Therefore, playing those we really need now will also balance out the classes some.

We have had 4 losing seasons in a row- you play those that can help you win games

True frosh Cory Helms may be the starting center. OL is typically not a spot for true frosh to play (Joe Looney being a notable exception)

Chris DeGeare as well. Haven't had a true frosh C though. That's troubling.

I have a feeling that this kid is special (Helms). But I hope he played in a shot-gun offense in high school. Being a true freshman and learning to snap to a quarterback who is not under center, while anticipating being hit harder than ever before is a lot to handle. Then there are blocking assignments to learn and stronger opponents to block...that is a huge load for a freshman. Every offensive down begins with him, obviously.

What is troubling is that Whit Barnes has been here 4 years and is letting a kid off the bus take his job. 3 practices and he's demoted? My biggest problem with this program is it player developement. If 3rd and 4th year OL would play better, maybe they could execute LOBO's plays. Our backs would be tackled for a 4 yd gain, not a 4 yd lose. We would have the confidence to go for it on 4th down on the Clemson 38 yd line.

What is your feeling based on?

76, dead on.
