Black & Gold Madness Observations...

Dino was one of the guys calling the Duke "madness". Mentioned he worked at a camp CP3 has in Winston for the top guards.

Hold up. Our fired coach worked at a camp in Winston held by our 2nd most prominent basketball alum and hometown legend for top HS guards, a situation that would otherwise seem to help Wake basketball recruiting?

maybe he needed the money for his ensemble

Sad seeing that video of pregame duke. I was a freshman for MM of Duncan's sr year. Things have fallen so far. I miss the good days.

Camo? WTF? Just when I thought it couldn't be worse than ours, State comes along and lowers the bar.

They wore camo as a tribute to the military. Gottfried made his appearance by way of skydiving.

Hard to believe that Dino and CP3 might be tight...

I don't really get your point here. Are you saying that having Dino around hurts recruiting?

Regardless of your perspective, it doesn't seem like it would help.

I don't think that Dino would purposefully hurt Wake's recruiting, but it does cause at least a couple of issues. First, if the players at the camp really like Dino, Dino probably won't be giving them glowing recommendations about Wake... at least not while Wellman is here. More than likely, he would avoid mentioning anything about Wake, which is almost as bad. Second, Wake can't really promote that camp in any fashion, because that would be terribly awkward. It stops one avenue for Wake to promote one of their highest profile NBA players, which is also not a good thing.

It also suggests that our most popular basketball alum (among teenagers at least) is more chummy with our ousted coach than our current one. Doesn't look great for the state of the program.

Just watched some old episodes of The Season with CP3 and Dino on YouTube. Dino was definitely a part of the Wake Forest family, and remains so with many former athletes and supporters. Something that Bz will never have.
