NCAAF Coaching Carousel

Got a link or confirmation on that? Morris denies it but I guess that means he did. Ark. St. launched Malzahn to Auburn & Bryan Harsin to Boise State in respective years so its not a bad gig to launch from. The Citadel is also open if he wants to take that route. Neither would pay the 1.3 mil he gets at Clemson, but he wouldn't be there long before a bigger job came calling.

And Hugh Freeze to Ole Miss the year before that!

Currently, 4 FBS jobs remain open:

- Texas
- Army
- Arkansas State
- Bowling Green

BTW, Army paid Ellerson $401,500 last year; so, we are talking massive pay cut for Grobe even if Army tripled Ellerson's salary. Other potential candidates for the Army job: Jets special teams coach Ben Kotwica (former Army captain), Bucs OC Mike Sullivan (West Point grad and former Army assistant), Ohio State OC Ed Warinner (former Army assistant), and GA Southern Head Coach Ed Monken (former Paul Johnson assistant, they run the triple option as well as anyone in college football).

Bet Morris is waiting to see what Texas does. If Baylor or TCU open, he will be on the short list.

No doubt. He would very much be a hire in the Art Briles mold, given his Texas HS coaching experience.

Is Penn State going to lose O'Brien?

There's something like an $8 million buyout this year if he goes to the NFL where most of the interest in him appears to be coming from. Certainly any NFL team can afford that but I doubt they'd want to for someone as unproven as he is. In a couple years I expect he will go back to the NFL though.

I thought the buyout was just if he goes to another college team.

I was incorrect. If he leaves now he would owe his base of $1,932,779 times the years remaining on his contract (3, 2014-2016). If he leaves for another college job, then he owes his base salary for each year remaining plus $1.35 M (nike deal/public appearances).

Pretty good article here: http://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/index.ssf/2013/06/breaking_down_bill_obriens_new.html

Grobe to WSSU? The staff wouldn't even have to move?

Clawson was the correct move to make, but this Maynor guy that left for Hampton Univ. sounds like a heck of a coach.

Maynor compiled a 45-6 record in four seasons, the best four-year period in the history of WSSU football. He has the best winning percentage in program history (.882), and his 45 wins rank fourth all-time at the school.

I would have loved to see Clawson consider him for the staff. Not sure if he's interested in being anything besides an HBCU HC.

WSSU seemed to parlay the short-lived move to FCS into some better recruiting, which lead to some really good success when they decided to move back to D-II.

Chip Kelly to Texas seems to be all the rage today. LET THE CIRCUS BEGIN!

That would surprise me. It's his first year in the NFL and the Eagles are on the verge of winning the NFC East, best of the worst albeit, but you wouldn't think he'd walk away.

Maynor is a good coach, but liveanddie hit on a lot of their success. FCS talent on a D-II team.

So does Charlie Strong. He is now the Vegas favorite.

Hmmm, I wouldn't be too upset if Charlie moves on to another program before we have to start facing them as an ACC rival. I think he's a pretty Strong:thumbsup: coach.

Lol, Sumlin is at A&M you guys. If an interracial couple can do well in College Station, they can probably fare well in Austin.
