Wake - Virginia Tech Game Thread

I don't know why we all can't agree that Buzzdick is lousy at every aspect of his job and that Dino wasn't a good coach who was going to get fired sooner or later and whose last recruiting class looked good on paper at the time but turned out to be incredibly overrated.

Let's not be revisionist historians. We were all jazzed up about Dino's last class at the time. Then Dino is fired, and there is a dispute as to the reasons. Then we fans wanted that class kept together under the new coach, and Wellman apparently wanted the same thing, and Buzzdick ended up retaining Dino's assistants and entire class. Then we're historically bad for 2 years and have player scandals thrown in. McKie turns out to be the only legit ACC talent out of the bunch, though Desrosiers and Chennault would certainly be getting meaningful minutes on this current roster if they were still here. And that Tabb was recruited to campus by Dino and was given 3rd and 4th chances by Buzzdick is an indictment of both.

Now to Buzzdick's recruiting. His 1st class is historically awful, and I'm sure glad that after Buzzdick arrived on the scene we went after Fischer and cooled on Larkin (or Larkin wisely cooled on us). Brilliant. Then he has a large solid class that includes 2 ACC caliber starters in CMM and Thomas and some role players. Then he has what looks to be a poor 3rd class - jury is out on whether McClinton can play, but Overton doesn't strike me as an ACC talent. Then he has what will probably be a poor 4th class, landing a potentially legit PG but completely striking out on big men when he loses a decommit. Bob Staak would be embarrassed by that 4 year haul. Had he put this group together in the ACC olden days of 10-20 (or 30 or 40) years ago, they'd have struggled winning 1-2 ACC games a year. The reason we're gonna win 6-7 ACC games is Johnson is recruiting way worse with Eddie and the Walk-ons, and Brownell, Donohue and Gregory are recruiting just as poorly, Brey lost his star, and Turgeon, Roy and Gottfried ain't setting any worlds on fire.

So can we just agree Dino wasn't a good overall coach and Buzzdick is terrible at every facet of his job?

No one is tearing anyone down. Everyone appreciates players that come to Wake and give what they can. But in as much as people are tearing down the coaching staff, people need to realize that winning with the JT/Derosiers class was improbable if they were going to be our focal players.
 
Funny how you never hear white people called a thug unless they are a Chas McFarland type. With black players, if they show-off, they are a thug. If they talk trash, they are a thug.

At no point did I say that he's better offensively, I said he has a higher offensive rating and then I explained why that was the case. You just read what you wanted to read.

You're probably right, but that's a shame. I honestly don't know why people can't just look at every else as a person and not as a color or whatever. How silly would it be if pale skinned "white" people were discriminated against by "white" people that have a darker skin tone or the other way around?

How about when they physically and verbally assault college kids, employees and their players over multiple years at multiple schools?

And BTW, DV7, you aren't going to play any guilt-trip on me, so you might as well stop trying. I've been supporting civil rights causes since long before you were born. When I voted for Dr Reginald Hawkins (whom I'm sure you've never heard of) in the 1968 NC Democratic Gubernatorial primary, it was the only vote he got in my precinct. If I was over on the politics board again, I would be blasted for supporting President Obama. However, if it walks like a duck & quacks like a duck, the chances are good that it's a duck. It's pretty simple, really. If people don't want to be called a thug, they should stop acting like a thug.
