Wake Forest Twitter Thread aka Coach Scheier wins the Internet

Don't support the Quad rolling and don't feel that I fit into any of your groupings. Buzz was a bad coach, deserved to be fired and he is now gone. I'm happy about it, but to celebrate that with a rolling of the Quad should be considered a low point for Wake Forest. Hopefully, the new hire will help bring the entire fan base back together. I doubt any new coach would support the celebration of his predecessor resigning.

I agree with this. Is the Quad rolling the worst thing ever? No. Can you rationalize it by saying Bzz's resignation is a win for Wake? Sure. But just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Bzz should have been gone..Mission accomplished. No need to rub someone's face in it, especially since that's what everyone was complaining about RW doing with the delay in announcing Bzz's departure.

In hindsight, I do kind of regret rolling it. Feel bad for the players for having to witness that and feel bad for Buzz's family. But feeling bad for Buzz? That's just ludicrous. Guy made roughly $5 million from here for absolutely sucking at his job for 4 years. And he was an asshat on top of that. Just watch his first WF interview with Kenny Beck.

He made $1.4 in 2011 according to tax docs. It would seem safe to assume his salary went up from there. So, with a buyout, he's looking at $6-7 million from Wake.

What's your source? Because I've seen quotes or tweets from at least half the team in the past few days expressing disappointment in Buzz's firing. And other players saying they'd be back next year if Buzz was.

Side note: Did Buzz already delete his Twitter? I wonder if it was really just a Wake run account and they pulled it.

Sorry, I'll take BabyDeac and KVegas's take on the situation over yours just about any day. Those dudes have been right 100% of the time, and if they say the guys don't love Buzz, then the guys don't love Buzz.

There have been a handful of posters (Dalbert, DCDeac, jaybone, Brendan, etc.) who continue to beat us over the head with "the players obviously don't hate Buzz!" with absolutely no evidence at all whatsoever, outside of the absence of evidence. I follow these guys on Twitter, too, and I just don't see it. I see an embarrassed Tree, I see a defensive Devin, I see an emo CMM, but more than anything, I see a bunch of teenagers reacting to an absurd situation outside of their control.

Hell, with the exception of dalbert, I wonder if these folks have even met a player outside of one of those creepy AD events.

I don't see what was wrong with rolling the quad. It was about the future, not the past.

I think players can like Bz as a person and appreciate his care/concern over their well-being AND also dislike him as a coach and know a new coach is needed for the program, school, and their personal development.

No, it was about 2 men shitting on the rug, and rubbing those men's faces in their shit to teach them a fucking lesson. Both those SOBs could use a dump truck load of humility and the quad rolling was a good start.

Joshua Harris ‏@JoshHarris25 15h
Now I can understand why there's so much skepticism about pro day, my own school website doesn't even rave about the performance. Lol

I can't wait until Josh Harris just fades into oblivion. Insufferable almost to follow. In his mind he must seriously think he is such hot shit.

Maybe they can rave about how much slower he was than what he said. #cultureoflies

Whether you agree with the rolling of the quad or not, it was more of a big "fuck you" to Wellman than it was to Buzz.

This is what outsiders* don't understand.

Care Bears are a dime a dozen. Great coaches ... that's a different story. The university and the players need to decide what they want.

Aaron Rountree III @DeaconTREE33Dog, we HAVE to make the tourney next year. I've been watching March Madness from the house for entirely too long.

While it's obvious and is every player's goal, it's nice to see he is hungry for some increased success in the near future.

NWT but funny...

@ArmstrongABC11: I asked Kennedy Meeks if it's contagious when Carolina's big guys start hitting the glass... He said 'yeah, it's like a cancer.' Ummm haha

It has seemed obvious to me that the players and the athletic department (for the most part) really liked Bz. He recruited those players and he reinforced an "us vs. them" mentality for all of them. It will be interesting to see how the players respond if we land a huge hire and the Joel is packed next season.

Exactly. More good quotes from some of the players in today's WSJ article about what Buzz meant to them. I understand some of our fans deeply hating Buzz because the results on the court were below average and his personality was the opposite of inspiring for the fans.... but he's gone... get over it and face reality.

I feel like a new coach will bring slow growth, the joel won't be jammed next season... people will slowly start coming back if we make progress. It will be really interesting to see what the new coach does next season with essentially the same team... and what the ultra negative posters have to say about the new coach if he doesn't even get us to the W/L record we had this year. Which is absolutely a possibility losing McKie and Coron.

Hope rolling the quad was a low point and we only go up from here.
