Official Hoops Coaching Search Thread - Welcome Danny Manning!!!

Another scoop from the tulsa board. paladeac posted over there to stick up for Ron:
Please don't judge all Wake fans by some of the ones on message boards, including one board in particular.

A little background is in order -- Wellman, our AD has been respected as one often best and has helped Wake reach new heights -including ACC championship in football and Orange Bowl appearance, national titles in field hockey and significant upgrades in facilities.he was offered the AD position at Tenn and turned them down.

But since Skip Prosser dropped dead of a massive heart attack it seems like Wake ball has had one train wreck after another. B/c Wellman has not been forthcoming with everything that has gone on (in my opinion, probably rightly so) he has become the target of a lot of frustration and venom. No one understood the [Redacted] hire, and his lack of PR skills didn't help endear him to fans. (And we'd gotten spoiled by Skip who'd just as soon quote Shakespeare as Wooden and who could relate to everyone.) It didn't help that at the same time our football team hit a pretty dispirited stretch of seasons. (even Wellman's critics are pleased with the new football coach.)

As divided as we are aas a fan base, we all care passionately about Wake Forest and Wake bball in particular, and we just haven't been good.

When Skip died someone commented that it was going to take us ten years to recover. I thought he was exaggerating, but perhaps not.

Uh, San Antonio is nowhere near A&M's campus....better bet bet would be Austin to see Rick Barnes....

People around here scoffed at Rick Barnes every time i mentioned him. He'd look nice right now.

No he wouldn't. He's 60ish, and Tejas fans have been frustrated with him the last few years. His talent base has fallen off since Haith left.

And if Chairman Ron isn't going to get back till Tuesday, why hold off on the presser till then. If Ron has a brain and a memory of how awful he was at the Buzzdick sendoff presser, it would be much better to have it here today without him and have Hatch and/or Buddie handle it. Are they just going to have Danny wandering around town till then?

Oh shit, who the hell appointed paladeac to go over to the Tulsa board and tell them what everybody thinks?

Compare the resume of Rick Barnes and Danny Manning. It's really not even close.

Our coach died and our AD is a good honest man who is trying his best!

+1 I've been saying it over and over. He is all ego with nothing to back it up. We have the AD equivalent of Justin Bieber. (Agreeing to the post I'm sick of RW putting Wake behind his NCAA fun.)

Justin Bieber is a wild party animal. He drives fast cars, does drugs and fucks a lot of women. Somehow I don't see Wellman as that.

Wellman is more like Don Knotts.

lol, Rick Barnes played at Lenoir-Rhyne College. Like he could hold a candle to someone like Danny Manning circa 1988.

We think we've got him sign, sealed, delivered but he's gonna get back to Tulsa and change his mind.
