Yes because the best way to solve this issue is to hurt the university by not contributing to one of its most important fundraising campaigns ever. You sound like one of the stratt idiots.

Dude. I don't know why this is so hard for you to grasp. MIKE WHITE DID NOT WANT TO CONSIDER THE WAKE FOREST JOB. We called him. He didn't even want to consider the opportunity. You are acting like these things are like some guaranteed linear progression. He simply didn't want to consider the job.

It is easy for someone who did not attend Wake (like myself) to poo poo the high academic standards for athletes. I actually think it is noble for a university to take a stand and say they will not lower their standards to the bottom to attract non-deserving students. Just look at what this has done to UNC's reputation as a place of higher learning. But if that is what you have decided to do you should probably not try to compete in major DI athletics. I know that Clawson has embraced the high standards and has (so far) done relatively well in recruiting. But he has yet to coach a game...yet to lose a game. I am as hopeful as anyone that he will be as successful as any coach ever but the road is rough and long and the university does not make it smoother or shorter.

I actually watched the HBO Real Sports segment last night for the first time and found it downright embarrassing to UNC, Memphis, OU, and the other schools mentioned but especially to UNC.

Manning (if hired) has his work cut out for him, but yes we were going to have to overpay anyone to come here. As Skins said, Wake is a bad job right now like the Detroit Tigers were a bad baseball team in the early 2000's. We had to overpay marginal free agents just to think about coming to Motown. However things changed and the Tigers are very relevant again much like Wake can be through hard work.

Wellman is going to have to stay out of the way and it would be best if he just quietly retired as his ego & arrogance are what got us here.

I'm all in on Danny Manning.

Agreed! I don't know why we give a shit about Mike White in the first place either.
 
Why are Archie Miller's and Michael White's resumes so much better than Manning's? I can see preferring one over the others for various reasons, but they all seem to be at about the same spot/tier. Yet, all we hear is how we whiffed on those two wonderful candidates and were relegated to Manning. Seems like Manning has as much going for him as the others. Anyway, welcome coach!
