No Scrimmage Report: discussing 3rd asst coach; super ceral

So if DM doesn't win with juniors and seniors, you'll give him his own large freshman class.

I think Bz was so bad that if DM is halfway decent we will see major improvement. He's got to kill it on the recruiting trail to earn a third year of love if he doesn't improve on Bz with Bz' players.

I'm so tired of being miserable (wrt Wake hoops), so I may not be thinking clearly, but I'm pretty bullish that we are dancing in year two.

We better damn well be dancing in year 2 of Manning because he will have an assload of seniors on the team with and experienced supporting cast as well.

No excuses in 2015/16.

There really isn't another choice. Manning has to win the next two years.

The idea of waiting two years to see if Manning can win with 8 freshmen is very unappealing on multiple fronts. If Manning isn't an effective recruiter and dooms us to another bad huge class, we are stuck for the foreseeable future and unattractive to new coaches.

Hoops Scrimmage Report?

Yeah tourney appearance in year 2 is a must unless the entire team turns over.

And there's not going to be another 8 freshmen. That'll work itself out over the next 3 years. 5 at most.

Yeah, I hope so. It makes too much sense to let Daniel graduate after next season and let at least 2 of the sophomores go. But Wellman's hands seem to still be all over the program given the inexperience of our coaching staff.

With no center, and two guards who cannot shoot?

Without any additions, it is moronic to think that just because you have seniors you should be good. Who cares what year they are if we have no shooters and no true big?

Typical idiotic concept by DV7.

Expect Manning to take steps immediately to address our roster's shortcomings. That's what we need to happen. He will need to be creative. Feel free to impress the peanut gallery.

I'd love a 7 foot 5-star center as much as anyone, but Devin was our 2nd leading scorer last year. So we have a PF as our big man - so do 75% of the college teams out there.

We lack depth behind Devin since it's completely possible Dre and Daniel will never be ACC contributors, but a McClinton/Cav/Devin front court goes 6'7", 6'9", 6'9" with Devin over 240 - plus you have a bruiser in Moto as an option as well. There's nothing inherently disastrous with that lineup.

We're just dying for a shooter. Codi has the potential to be borderline elite - similar to Dez Wells - for the next 2 years, despite not being a shooter. Cav should be a solid stretch 4 and average 10/6.

We don't need multiple pieces to be really good in 2 years. We need one elite shooter. That's it. The other stuff is just repairing the damage from an 8 man class so we aren't horrid in 3 years.

rj never insults first on threads. Remember that everybody.

Just not sure how we can trash the roster and except signifigant improvement

We need a coach who can do more with less. Manning has less. He needs to show he can do more.

Just having experience doesn't really mean much. Players improve every year, and hopefully that improvement will increase with better coaching, but just because our team will have more experience doesn't mean they will be significantly better.

For reference, below is the average final KenPom rating of the top ten most experienced teams for the past five years:
2014 - 159.6 (highest: 35; lowest: 287)
2013 - 112.2 (highest: 14; lowest: 260)
2012 - 134.8 (highest: 8; lowest: 288)
2011 - 163.2 (highest: 17; lowest: 343)
2010 - 188.7 (highest: 42; lowest: 284)
