Official Spring Football 2014 Thread (Spring Game Saturday at 2:00)

So spring game atmosphere - what's it like? Is it more like a game or is there fanjets type stuff to do. Thinking of coming over, but the wife's working and I'll have 3 kids with me (7, 5, 3), and only the oldest would really be into the game. Worth it?

Depends on whether you want to watch the game? Hire a sitter to come with you and help entertain the kids, just an idea.
 
FWIW. I saw a tweet from Kenny Beck saying that Clawson said he won't name a starting QB until abt two weeks to 10 days before the ULM game
 
Makes sense. I'm surprised it won't be closer to game time.
 
The earlier the starting QB knows he's the start the better IMO. 2 weeks should give him plenty of time to develop the mind state that this is "my team."
 
I'm more concerned about the guys having time to earn a spot.

This is correct. He said this during the ACC Coaches Teleconference yesterday.

ETA: He said that neither Cameron nor Sousa has taken control of the position and that he promised the two freshmen they'd have the opportunity to compete for the starting position.
 
10-14 days is about the time you start gameplanning.

Both incoming QBs will get a chance to start and neither may redshirt if Sousa and Cameron are that bad.
RB is just going to be raw.
WR will likely add Kameron Uter
TE will likely add Devin Pike
Herron may get a shot at LT but I'd be surprised if any tFR OL play
Zeek Rodney will likely get a shot at DT
Zack Wary will likely get a shot at MLB
I think the entire true frosh secondary will redshirt

Like you said in a previous post, I am excited to see what Uter can do.
 
Last year didn't ESPN televise a bunch of Spring Games, including ours? Not seeing that this year. Nor does there seem to be any live blog set up for the game like was done in the past. Am I missing anything that's lined up to convey the action of the game for us out-of-towners?

I'm not seeing anything, but I will make sure that Blogger So Dear has a live thread on which several of the writers will share their thoughts as the game goes on and any user (BSD member) is more than encouraged to chat along and share their opinions. I can post the link to that page on this thread if that's easier. If you guys are on TapaTalk and just want to post on this thread that's perfectly fine too.
