A movie with Tom Hanks as the lead or a movie with George Clooney as the lead? No other info about the movie, just lead actors.

Is Sandra Bullock in the movie? Are there astronauts involved?

That's a silly premise.

By the way, their last movies:

Saving Mr. Banks - $83.3M domestic gross
Gravity- $274M domestic gross

RJ, let's play a game. You pick the 10 best movies starring George Clooney. I'll pick the 10 best movies starring Tom Hanks. We'll stack them up by critical reception and box office gross, and then we'll put this argument to bed. Deal?

EOT.

Clooney's fanbase is just a part of Hanks. I like them both but Hanks is bank.

Thank the gods Clooney was there to cover for the bad SFX and the casting of that Sandra chick

I didn't even know Clooney was in Gravity until I read a review of it...the first trailers didn't make it clear. Just had the crazy SFX.

i said "probably". we're making a prediction based on past results. also, im guessing most people think "space" and "sandra bullock" when they think of Gravity, not george clooney.

By box office (I'm doing 5):

Hanks
Toy Story 3 - $415M
Forrest Gump - $329M
Toy Story 2 - $245M
Cast Away - $233M
The Da Vinci Code - $217M

Clooney
Gravity - $274M
Ocean's Eleven - $183M
The Perfect Storm (really?) - $182M
Ocean's Twelve - $125M
Ocean's Thirteen - $117M

Hanks' first sub $100M movie is number 19, Saving Mr. Banks - $83M
Clooney's first sub $100M movie is number 7, Up in the Air - $83M

So basically, if we remove the Ocean's series out of the equation, this isn't even close.

Editted to say that it isn't even close right now.

Yeah, it's not even close now... even if you got rid of Toy Story and Ocean's series.

Clooney's top grossing movie would be Hanks' 3rd. Hanks' 8th (The Polar Express) would be Clooney's 2nd.

No we won't. It's about taste.

Tom Hanks is an all time great. He's a legend and should be. But the reality is he hasn't been nominated for any type of Oscar since 2001. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000158/awards

Since 2006, Clooney has been nominated for four acting Oscars, two Oscars for writing, one for directing and one for producing -Best Picture.

I don't think you count the Toy Story movies for Hanks. Sorry, but no one went to see those because his voice was in it.

He's the lead actor and a huge part of the series. Even if you don't count animation, it's not close.

I haven't seen Gravity. The only clips I've seen are Clooney's voice. How much is he actually in the movie?

That doesn't have too much to do with making money. Give me a Transformers flick over The King's Speech in that regard.
