WF starting 5 for $15

I don't know what the boards were like, but Levy was easily the most overrated Deac among Wake fans I knew at that point.

What did they overrate him as?

He took a ton of crap from people on the boards who didn't understand his value as a garbage guy who played well with everybody.

Joseph Amonett was the most overrated guy I can remember. Was supposed to be the next Rex Chapman.

Overrated by who? Odom? Sure. I think everybody else knew he sucked.

I'm talking about when he was coming in. I heard a lot of talk about how he was an incredible shooter. Once he got here it quickly became apparent he wasn't going to be the next Rex Chapman.

Oh. That was before there was any real independent analysis aside from Brick Oettinger and AD hype.

Reading comp is your friend, RJ. You referred to Levy and Downey as guys Strick should have emulated and Strick had a better career as a professional (short as it was) than either.

King and Tucker were big men. Both had better careers, but Strick was a wing. Apples and oranges.

My team:

C- Dunan
F- AFA
F- King
G- CP3
G- Taron

Not apples and oranges.

I referred to their heart and IQ not position. READING IS FUNDAMENTAL- you didn't ....

I agree with you. Everybody thought that he was an all star in waiting point forward who just didn't get enough possessions. He just wasn't ever that good, especially given his ranking.

He was #50 RSCI. He was a three year starter for three of our best teams. A 9/7 role player who shot around 50%. That's good for that ranking. I think you're talking about how Wake fans overrate everybody coming in. He was definitely disliked by most on the boards.

King, Tucker and Levy all played SF. That's I had to play Strickland on my team. If he had Taron's or Jamaal's bball IQ or heart, he'd be in the NBA now.

Chris King, Anthony Tucker, and Jamal Levy were all SF/PF players, i.e. Rodney, James Johnson, or AFA. Strickland was always more of a SG/SF. That's what I was talking about in terms of apples and oranges comparisons. I wouldn't compare James Johnson and LD Williams, even though both of those guys logged minutes at small forward. It's a stupid argument, though, so I'm just going to leave it there.

I just thought it was funny that you said that Trent lacked the intangibles of Taron and Jamaal, but ended up having a better professional career than both of those guys.

People forget that Trent averaged 17 and 12 in November in games against Florida (National Champion), George Mason (Final Four), Wisconsin (NCAA Tourney), and Texas Tech. Not too shabby, IMO, even though dude deserves the flack he gets for being a knucklehead.

I didn't ANYTHING about their pro careers. Not ONE word- YOU added that....

It's VERY easy to understand what I said. I said, If HE (Trent) had Taron's or Jamaal's BBall IQ or heart.,"

YOU added something. Why can't you just say, "I was wrong. You didn't say that."

No excuses, just say you were wrong.

There's nothing to be right or wrong about, RJ. I never said you said anything that you didn't say. In fact, I quoted what you said in my post and bolded what I was responding to.

I'm going to attribute this misunderstanding (and the caps-lock) to a top-shelf cocktail hour.

Half of the players rated above Levy were better than him. Half weren't.

For sure, but I was just referring to the fact that we've only had eight players ranked higher than RSCI #50 over the past 16 years. That's kind of crazy, no?

You've been drinking? I haven't.

This is what you said:

I said NOTHING aboutn their pro career. You wanted to change what I said.

BTW, Tucker or King could stop Strickland cold with their D on him. He would have no chance to stop either of them.

Assuming that you are about 26, Chris king stared playing for the Deacs the year you were born and played until you were four. You really don't know what you are talking about regarding how he played.

Stricklands talent is overrated. So is his defense (he WS athletic but no lateral quickness), but his senior year was solid and wasn't a bad shooter.

Yep, perfectly said. Levy was also overhyped as a shut down defender by the program/announcers, which he wasn't. But he was super versatile on defense which is valuable on its own like you said.

Levy is probably underappreciated at this point of anything.

Sure. Who else do you put at SF for $1?
