The Official US Open* Thread

Hoping one of the -1/-2 pack throws up a 66 or 67 this afternoon to get with a few. Then Kaymer has an average/poor Saturday and it's game time come Sunday.

Saw Kaymer's scorched earth march through Pinehurst, team America is screwed when Kevin Na and Dustin Johnson are among our greatest hopes.

fun two days but glad I'll enjoy the last two at home.

Probably more fun in person. Nobody is challenging and this is a crap putting contest course.

Ugh. Not a Kaymer fan in the least, and I can't stand Na. At least the World Cup is on.

I figure Na will play a 6 hour round today. Makes for great TV watching him hem and haw over every shot.

The only player worse to watch than Na in the history of golf was Sergio about a decade ago when he had the 30-40 waggles before every shot. And Na just appears to be a bizarre person to boot.

I'm going to disagree. This is a brilliant strategic layout, and the course has been setup almost perfectly. With a single exception, the leader board is very bunched up. Kaymer has just had a near flawless run for 2 days and not had any bad bounces. Golf is about managing your misses, and no course is a better fair examination of that than #2. You have to miss in the right spots and then still use a variety of short game shots to get up and down. There are no stupid ass water hazards, OOB and lost balls that exact too stiff a penalty for a missed shot.

I really hope Kaymer comes back to the field because this course has the potential for an amazing Sunday finish.

Setup is BRUTAL today. Of the 30+ players on the course currently, only one is under par.

The pins on 5 and 9 are setup for train wrecks.

I don't really care what the original intent was, the course looks like a trailer park lawn. I could design a par 3 course with a push mower tomorrow and it might look as good as this dump.

You would hate golf in Scotland.

It took NBC 23 minutes to show a live golf shot.

No longer any players on the course under par.
