cookout = blabbermouth?
Went to Chez Billy again tonight. It's quickly becoming one of my fav places in town. If you don't get the chicken liver app then you are missing the fuck out. It is ridiculously good.
I've been wanting to try Iron Gate. Does Lupo become a shitshow like most other places on 14th or is it relatively easy to get into?
if you haven't tried Lupo Verde at 14th and T, you should. I live a block away and have gotten to know the folks there, so it's sort of become my spot latey.
Did the tasting menu at Iron Gate last Friday night. Pricey but very good. Think the tasting menu at Corduroy was better, fwiw.
There is a server at Corduroy who is freakishly tall. Like wo.
The wife and I are heading to DC this weekend to see Arcade Fire on Sunday night. Looking for a place to eat dinner before the show. We're staying in the Old Town Alexandria area. Concert is at the Verizon center. We're looking for a place to eat dinner before the show. Any recommendations?
Probably looking for something that is (i) not too formal, in case we don't have time to change before the show, and (ii) close to either where we are staying or the Verizon Center.
Thanks in advance.
I don't know anything about Old Town, so I'll leave that to someone else. But there are a ton of places near Verizon. A few that are good and very close:
Zatinya (Greek)
Oyamel (fancy mexican)
Graffiado (Italian)
City Tap House (decent bar food)
Ping Pong Dim Sum (dumplings)
Jaleo (tapas)
Hill Country (BBQ)

I fucking hate restaurant week.
Also live in Old Town and work a couple blocks from Verizon center.
In Old Town I'd recommend the Majestic, Rustico (especially if you enjoy craft beer), or head to Del Ray for Evening Star. Or if you want ribs Jackson 20 apparently has some of the best anywhere.
There are a million places in Penn Quarter/Chinatown. Graffiato is a hot spot, the others Barca mentioned are solid minus the Tap House, whenever I've been there it's been awful. I'd add the Partisan, another new/hot spot, Rasika (one of the best ever if you like Indian), and Proof. All are awesome.
