Whole lot of stuff in this interview. His thoughts on Obama, Ferguson, and Hillary are great, but that's barely a third of the interview.

Let’s talk about Obama a bit. You have been a fan. Have you ever met him?Yeah, a couple times.
And what did you make of him?
Kind of cool. I always say, cooler than most politicians, not as cool as actual cool people. He’s not cool like Jay Z’s cool. He’s not Eddie Murphy. But in a world of politicians …

What has Obama done wrong? When Obama first got elected, he should have let it all just drop.
Let what drop?
Just let the country flatline. Let the auto industry die. Don’t bail anybody out. In sports, that’s what any new GM does. They make sure that the catastrophe is on the old management and then they clean up. They don’t try to save old management’s mistakes.
That’s clever. You let it all go to hell.
Let it all go to hell knowing good and well this is on them. That way you can implement. You hire your own coach. You get your own players. He could have got way more done. You know, we’ve all been on planes that had tremendous turbulence, but we forget all about it. Now, if you live through a plane crash, you’ll never forget that. Maybe Obama should have let the plane crash. You get credit for bringing somebody back from the dead. You don’t really get credit for helping a sick person by administering antibiotics.

Who in the Democratic Party could go after Hillary, though? There doesn’t seem to be anyone like Barack Obama.
There was no Barack Obama until Barack Obama either. I mean, I would love to see Hillary, but there’s a part of Hillary that’s like the Democratic McCain at this point. As he showed, “It’s my time” is not really enough. But you know, I’m absolutely ready for a woman president. I’m ready for a woman nighttime-talk-show host, to tell you the truth. I wonder which will be first.

That is one ignorant interview. What is good that is in it?

Point of clarification: is the 8X Deac thing another way of talking about OWGs now?

The guy is obsessed with race. He's made a great career out of it though, despite limited knowledge. So, give him credit.Only in America ...

I love Chris Rock too, but:

Chris Rock has limited knowledge of race?

Ignorance is easy.

Here are a couple of things Chris says about blacks doing silly things:

"Chris Rock: Wealth will set us fucking free, okay? 'Cause wealth is empowering, wealth can uplift communities from poverty, okay? A white man gets wealthy, he builds Wal-Marts and makes other white people have some motherfucking money. A brother gets rich, he buys some motherfucking jewelry."

Here's what he fears:

"Chris Rock: [on the government] They keep trying to scare us. They keep telling us to be on the lookout for Al-Qaeda. I ain't scared of Al-Qaeda! I'm from Brooklyn... I don't give a fuck about Al-Qaeda! Mother fuck Al-Qaeda. Did Al-Qaeda blow up the building in Oklahoma? NO! Did Al-Qaeda put anthrax in your mail? NO! Did Al-Qaeda drag James Byrd onto the street till his eyes popped out of his fuckin' head? NO! I ain't scared of Al-Qaeda! I'm scared of Al-Cracka!"

Usually people with PhDs who study race make things about race a lot more than, say, a comedian. So I'm not sure the 8XDeacs want "qualified" people to run the debate, either.

People, in general, want people who share their beliefs about race to talk about race. This isn't a question of relevant experience, objectivity, or scientific - social scientific or otherwise - knowledge.

You know he's a comedian, right?

You'd rather listen some ivory towered professor than a person who lifted himself out of Bed-Stuy. A person who been around the country for over twenty years.

I guess his real life experience and studied commentary doesn't count as much without the right degree to you.

Also, he and very accomplished Ivy League wife have been quite involved in many programs over the past 15-20 years.

Chris Rock has limited knowledge of race?

Actually, originally I meant to say that Rock's understanding of other subjects was limited. Sorry that I wasn't clear.

Nevertheless, now that you mention it, obsessions do lead to skewed understanding and limited knowledge. So, yes, his limitations would apply to some degree to his views on race as well.

That makes even less sense. That's just a roundabout way of saying he has different experiences than you and you disagree with his perspective.
