Torture Report Released

We anally raped people with feeding and rehydration tubes when there was absolutely no medical need. But LK and JHMD think the problem is we relied on the rapists's written word and didn't go back for interviews? That's special.

So...if I follow you correctly...we just undertook a partisan study on the best ways to get information out of people....that didn't get any actual information out of actual people...and then lectured people on the best ways to get information out of people?

You guys are simply the best. Hats off.

Biggest problem with the report and the debate in general is even mentioning whether the torture was effective or not.

Torture is torture. It's immoral, it's illegal, and no amount of information obtained could possibly justify it. Just determine whether we tortured people or not (we did), punish the people responsible, and be done with it.

There are no specifics whatsoever in Hayden's ass-covering, he's a known perjurer, and "debriefings and interrogations" is the mother of all weasel lines when the SSCI report says that we got valid intelligence from detainees prior to torturing them.

The cables are primary sources and were composed by and for actual people. This seems lost on you.

Okay. Fair stance. I understand where you come from.

Now....Khalid Sheik Mohammed walks into your FBI office on September 12, 2001. Sits down. Go.

Honest question. In the absence of torture, how do you get valuable information from captives. They don't seem like dudes who will casually give up their comrades over cigarettes and coffee.

You, like, ask them questions, promise them shorter detention or something, and maybe lie and say other detainees are squealing on them.

Big problem with torture, aside from illegality and immorality, is that the victim will say whatever he thinks the torturer wants to hear, not necessarily whatever he knows. That's why KSM told the CIA that he was trying to recruit black American Muslims in Montana.

Honest answer. maybe you don't.

Still doesn't justify torture (even if torture were effective).

Nice Guy Eddie: If you fucking beat this prick long enough, he'll tell you he started the goddamn Chicago fire, now that don't necessarily make it fucking so!

All the useful intel we got form Abu Zebaydeh happened before the torture started.

We turn drug dealers into informants all the time.
