usic Thread

Gonna try to listen to everything from Bob Dylan to John Wesley Harding this afternoon.

Got a new cartridge and tube phono amp set up on the turntable and have been listening to records all afternoon- DBT's English Oceans & Black Ice Verite, Shovels & Rope's Swimmin' Time, Best of the Staples Singers, and now Lucero Live in Atlanta.

A friend is taking me to see Lotus in NYC next weekend, and I just saw that they're playing shows up here Tuesday and Wednesday. Score.

usic thread: I thought I didn't like Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis, and was fairly entrenched in this idiotic opinion, until I saw her ACL set last night. She is really good. (My dislike is completely irrational and probably stems from a first impression or something when I was a college radio nerd.)

I know a lot of y'all are experts. Please educate me. What are your favorite songs? I've been listening to Silver Lining on repeat all afternoon.

I'd could listen to Portions for Foxes all day, goddamn sexy song on a great record.

Also, my #dadrock comment was sarcastically referring to Ryan Adams, who TAB thinks is #dadrock for some stupid TAB reason

I've been catching up on the Americans and it is making me want to listen to Peter Gabriel all the time, is this what it was like growing up in the early 80s y/y

Wow I barely know any of these (only two). I think we are roughly the same age, but I could be wrong (high school from 94 - 98). I listened to 94.5 The Edge and Q102 as much as the next guy, but just don't know these. Of course I'm not nearly as into music as some of you so I don't know many of the more obscure ones.

We are 8 years apart. Those songs are all in about the 93-94 range, and are mostly obscure 120 Minutes type stuff.

Damn. I'm 6/38. But I swear this is true--I had Poe's Angry Johnny stuck in my head when I woke up today and all through my shower I was trying to think of the name of their other song that was a minor hit, that goes "CANT TALK TO A PSYCHO LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING" in the chorus.

Just came to me: Trigger Happy Jack.
