#2 UVA @ Wake, 7:00 PM | Game Thread | GO DEACS!!

I've always had a theory about home and home series between a great team and an inferior team. When the first game played between them is very close, that is the game the inferior team *must* win if it wants to win at all. The second game will be a relatively comfortable win for the great team. Wake had its chance at an upset at Charlottesville. That was our chance. Going by my theory this one won't be another close one.

It's not scientific -- although their might be some true rationale behind it -- but it seems to play out that way more often than not.

Kansas State would like to disagree.

This could be a big win for Coach Manning. One would think Devin would play better this time around. I feel good about it.

I think Wake gets the win by a comfortable margin and Manning gets a big win in Year 1. 62-56 or something like that.

Although they were easily disposed of by KU the first time 'round. Given what we did to the 'Hoos I'm sure we'll get their full attention

Was on mobile and missed the part about it being "very close". Would NC State be a better example?
I don't doubt it. I'm sure they were cleaning out their pants in the locker room, I doubt they overlook us, but I still feel good about it. They're a different team without Anderson.

Like most everyone else, I feel like this sets up well for us...

Too well, perhaps. So I'm taking UVA and laying the 7.5. Throw out that first game... UVA should play better (unless Perrantes sits). I still worry about our ability to score enough points. I hope I'm wrong, of course.

How is it that the ACC Network can't get the number 2 team in the nation televise on anything other than ESPN3 or full court?

I thought we'd win big against UNC and Ga Tech and we got our butts handed to us. Unless Mitoglou is unconscious again or somebody else for us lights it up from three (not likely), UVa will find a way to win.

anybody out there got an extra ticket tonight i am actually in town for the first time in forever

Getting to play at all would be an improvement to last UVa game. Of the guys that got any measurable minutes on the court, only Rountree played less than Thomas at UVa.

We had the bye before UNC and didn't show at home. Another bye week, only difference we came off that great effort at Syr, ND was certainly not at that level.

We need CMM, a good game from DT and 2 others (probably from Dinos, Hudson and Leonard) to step up to win.

And just for fun, I'm 3-2 starting ACC game threads with the losses @Clemson and @UVA. Spring has the other W. FWIW :)

• The Deacons have won 10 straight over the Cavaliers at the LJVM Coliseum since 2000-01 and 14 of the past 15 since 1994-95. Wake Forest is 42-16 all-time at home vs. Virginia, including 18-3 at the LJVM Coliseum.

Hoping to pull it to 2-2 today. Otherwise I may have to relinquish my duties...

I'd be inclined to take the points, especially if London is out. I don't think we'll win outright unless London is actually out. I don't think UVA will be as flat with their energy level as they were the last time. If London is out, look for r-s frosh Hall to run some of the point. He's pretty nondescript. He doesn't shoot it often and doesn't penetrate much - just brings it up and gets it to Brogdon. I haven't seen anything around here saying whether London is playing, so I'm guessing Bennett is just playing this close to the vest.

Whatever we do, I hope it doesn't include running much of the offense through Thomas on the block. I thought before the last game he'd have a lot of trouble with the way UVA doubles big to big, and he was in fact awful. I hope Danny has worked with him on getting rid of it early or dribbling out to the 3 point line, turning and facing the D and passing it back out. I think Dinos could have another good night because UVA is vulnerable to stretch 4s. Whenever Dinos has Tobey on him, he needs to set screens for the guards out top. And maybe Bennett hasn't learned that it makes zero sense to have Tobey to hedge so much on guards named CMM & Jones. He should only hedge if Wilbekin is running the pick and roll.
