KJ & NFL Combine Thread

Man, I just got that Brady Bunch Snickers commercial.

McShay's 3rd NFL Mock Draft has KJ going #14 to Miami.

Just...wow.

14
Kevin Johnson
Miami Dolphins (8-8)
COLLEGE: Wake Forest
Class: Sr
HT: 6-0
WT: 188
POS: CB

Analysis: This is a bit of a reach here, as Johnson is our 20th-ranked prospect, but given how many good young wide receivers there are in the NFL right now (with another good class on the way), teams such as Miami that need help at cornerback could feel compelled to reach a little bit on the best cornerback prospects in this class. Johnson is an underrated cover corner with excellent change-of-direction skills and good size at 6-foot, and he quietly turned in one of the better overall combine workouts among defensive backs. His 4.52 40 time is slightly above average for a corner, but what was overlooked were his outstanding results in the jumps (41.5-inch vertical, 10 foot, 10 inch broad) and shuttles (3.89 short shuttle, 6.79 long), matching the explosiveness and fluidity he shows on tape. Washington cornerback Marcus Peters is the better player, but his behavioral baggage could push him down the board.

So who, besides KJ, will be featured at Wake's senior day? Merrill (Bud) Noel? Does the Aussie punter get an early look from some NFL scouts?

Along with Bud, probably Wooding and Allen. Maybe James and Terry due to their height.

Bud, Ziggy, Matt James, and EJ Scott are the ones that I know of but there are probably others. KJ's workout will be limited to certain drills (generally not expected to repeat the ones that he did at the combine).

What did he bench at the combine? Or did he even bench?

Is he going to run the 40? It'd be great for him to get the time into the 4.4s.

But it could hurt him if he runs higher than 4.52.

Not sure it makes sense for him to participate. His hype won't get any bigger.

Yeah. He may do some drills to make sure scouts show up for his teammates. I doubt he'll run a 40 or redo the drills he killed at the combine.

Reminded me of Curry the year he got drafted. Didn't a couple easy drills to get exposure for his teammates. I'm sure the same will hapoene for KJ.

KJ not running. Sticking with his 4.52

Matt James: 4.51 40. 36 inch vertical. 16 bench reps.
EJ Scott: 4.55 40. 36 inch vertical. 21 bench reps. 6.8 3 cone.

Pretty good results. Wonder if scouts will give James a
Look based on size-speed measurables.
