Dino: WFU source sez atmosphere in AD is "toxic"

I don't know Mike and have nothing against him, but I really hope we look outside the family on this one. Common sense says we need a fresh perspective on the challenge of fielding championship teams at Wake. Frankly, if it were up to me, nobody with any ties to the current regime would even sniff the job.
 
Honest question because I don't know: Let's say we hire a new AD tomorrow. How do we know Wake got a good one? What signs do we look for? It can't be as simple as "his old gig won a lot" though I wouldn't throw that out of bed for farting. What else?

Simple answer is you won't know until the new AD starts making coaching hires. Although success or lack there of in soliciting donations will be a factor as well.

Agreed. Buddie is a Wellman "mini-me." Just as arrogant and egotistical. And the majority of the rest of the Athletic Department are simply jellyfish who only know how to say, "Yes, Ron. You're right, Ron. That's a great idea, Ron."

I really hope that our next AD is an outsider and more importantly already an AD with experience making hires and fires. Promoting from within does not sound like a good idea.
 
Remember who will be choosing Wellman's successor...we are only going to get more of the same. Hatch wil not make a good decision. Now if Hatch were replaced...there might be something to get excited about.

Yeah, that OnTheWall dude on the other board is talking in circles about how no one would ever talk to Dino and, even if they did, they must have misused the word "toxic". He also claims the Wellman "took the high road".
 
So here is what I've learned from this thread (I've marked my favorite):

Mike Buddie is a Wellman mini-me.
Wellman is a puppet for hatch.
Wellman is an evil overlord.
Wellman is brain-damaged and is merely a figurehead.
Don Flow is really the man pulling the strings.
There is a toxic relationship between our biggest donors and the AD.
*Wellman waited until Bz's daughter started at Wake before hiring him.
Cassteven is responsible for Dino's payout.
Manning and Clawson have the real leverage in the department.
Dino was a horrible coach.
Dino was a great coach.

Occasionally Wellman walks by and even says "hi" to him while he sits on the wall watching college kids practice football!!!

Yep- if Kersh is the new Pres in waiting then we should be in good hands. He's a fellow Class of '86 graduate and we talked a lot of sports together back in our days at MSD.:thumbsup:

You will also have to give out goodie bags when you invite them to your birthday party so they feel like they are getting something back for getting you a present. Doesn't matter that you paid to entertain them for a couple hours and fed them pizza, cake and ice cream.
