Official thread about the movie you just saw

seen some randos lately. if you enjoy the no budget sci-fi talkie flicks like Primer or Coherence, you'll probably enjoy Frequencies

Results is an indie starring Guy Pearce and Cobie Smulders from a mumblecore director (Funny Ha Ha). As such not a lot happens, all the characters are introspective and the movie has kind of a verite feel... you know if you like this kind of movie.

Wild Tales is a Spanish anthology black comedy with six shorts. Not bad, I thought the first short was the best.

Friend of mine sent me this... who's interested in a league?

WE ARE!!!!

Watched Resolution per a rec on this thread. Thumbs up, pretty cool.

Found another movie from that directing tandem titled Spring. Mainly sci-fi but overall genre bending. Also worth a watch, those guys are pretty talented.. Though they did direct a pretty shitty segment from VHS: Viral.

I watched Inherent Vice last night. Fucking loved it. Best new(ish) movie I've seen in a while.

I was worried about that since it is 2 1/2 hours long, but it worked well for me. I thought it was a riot and didn't really feel the time.

Watched Whiplash and Interstellar on a recent flight and enjoyed them both. Need to watch the latter on something other than a tiny seatback screen, but it was a nice long movie to kill the time.

Inherent Vice was the first PT Anderson movie that I haven't liked, including The Master. Redboxed "Maggie" last night, the zombie movie starring Arnie and Olive from Little Miss Sunshine. Maggie is very slow and depressing, and Arnold is wooden, but it is an interesting take on a tired concept - What if people turned into zombies in the same way they die of cancer

Interstellar bluray dropped to $10 on Amazon so I picked that up.

I still want to see Ex Machina, Hobbit 3, Imitation Game, Inside Out, and Ted 2.

Oh man, you guys were missing out. It was totally ridiculous, of course, but it worked for me as kind of a cross between The Long Goodbye, Lebowski, and, like, Fear and Loathing. I loved it -- haven't had that much fun watching a movie in a while.

My attention span has been less than zero lately and I was enthralled. Weird. Sometimes it's just the mood one is in -- I wanted to watch it again right away.

This.

Saw Trainwreck over the weekend with the wife and there are parts that made us laugh until it hurt...it's worth the price of admission...but Apatow needs a more aggressive editor...the movie was at least 20 minutes too long. Some scenes killed the mojo and were pretty obvious candidates for editing.

Saw It Follows and Creep over the weekend. Enjoyed both. The music is It Follows is what creeped me out the most. Well done and on a low budget. Creep was just disturbing. I still kept picturing the guy from The League saying all the weird shit so I laughed my way through that.
