RIP Riley LaRue

If he was ejected from the vehicle, does that mean he probably was not wearing his seat belt?

It doesn't matter how short the drive is. Always buckle up.

This is such a tragedy. I hate it for the LaRue family.

I was class of '96 and remember when Riley was born. This is very surreal. Deepest sympathies for the whole LaRue family.

Not necessarily, I wouldn't think, given that it was a Wrangler and the extent of the collision and rolling of the vehicle.

I wasn't emotionally prepared to read that guest book. My deepest sympathies to the Larue family. I pray that they find some comfort in the outpouring of support the Wake family has shown.

The memorial for Riley was held last night at East Forsyth. There were probably 3K people in attendance. It was a beautiful tribute to a pretty cool young man.

I would like to say that I'm proud to be a Deacon. The Wake Forest representation was strong...Odom, Dino, Manning, this years team, past and present basketball staff, Josh Howard, Chill (of course), Ricky Peral, the women's basketball staff, football staff past & present, IMG announcers,, administration.

Wake Forest is a family.

If he was there, he was probably in disguise.

I can't say if he was there or not. I didn't see him and he wasn't sitting in the Wake Forest section but he could've been somewhere else.

Does past football staff include Grobe?

Caldwell was Rusty's football coach. I'm sure that he was in touch with Rusty even though he could not attend. Great to see the Deacs come together.

I'd be shocked if Caldwell didn't reach out to him. He's the epitome of class and genuinely seemed to care about his players.

Some moving tributes on his obituary page. Jerry Braswell and Tyler Cavanaugh among others. Braswell's was very touching.

I don't know if Grobe was there or not. If he was I couldn't see him but that might have something to do with the WF section being filled with basketball players. Easy to get lost in the trees. Elrod and some other Rusty era football players were there, though and I know a lot of folks that couldn't attend have reached out.

In fairness, the most respectful thing for [Redacted] to do would be to send a private note and stay away. He's among the most hated men in the history of Wake Forest basketball, would be trollish to show up at an event like this.

It's not really a Wake Forest thing though. It's a LaRue thing. Did Rusty and Bz get along?

I would hope if Rusty's former boss paid his respects, Wake people would respect the occasion and not antagonize [Redacted].
