The 2016 Panthers Thread: Keep Pounding

Saw a report that Manning wants to play next season and is looking at options, so that may be what Elway plans to do. It's the right move. Osweiler has a lot of potential and he's done his time on the bench. I could see the Broncos signing Hasselbeck as the backup.

If Manning plays next year, it won't be as a Bronco. Few get the opportunity to go out as a SB Champion. He shouldn't pass that up. He was "turrible" this year: 9 TD's and 17 Int's. He's physically limited and easily injured. It's time, Peyton.

He should go out on top, but his ego might not let him. Shame really because he's done as a quality starter in this league. I'm surprised Denver isn't moving on regardless. They seem content to let him stick around.

I hope Norman doesn't get pissy about getting tagged

He's on record as saying he wouldn't be upset by it.

The tag is non-exclusive, meaning he still could go elsewhere but a team signing him would have to give the Panthers 2 first round picks. Gman might be content to use him another year and draft replacements. Norman want's a deal in the 4 year 14 mil per range due to his age (28). We'll see if Gman is willing to lock up 14+ for him heading into his 30s.

Yeah. It's a good deal for all involved. Norman gets his first big paycheck and an opportunity to earn what would likely be his only big contract. The Panthers get 2 1st rounders if things fall apart with Norman. They get another year to free up the cash to keep Norman and a year to see if Bene and/or a 2016 draft pick can replace Norman.

Mario Williams to NE used to be the type of thing to piss me off but now the Panthers do this sort of thing all the time so it's like, aight Bill Beli, well played

I think the franchise tag was/is the right play vs a 3/4/5 year deal. He is 28. One would be right to assume he has 1 or 2 top notch seasons left with his age. Point to Revis and say he's still a stud going into his age 31 season, but JNo isn't on the level of Revis.

I think we would take just about any three year deal. The five years he is most certainly looking for will be tougher with all the guaranteed money it would command.

Congrats Josh, excited to have your crazy ass for one more ride (at least)

I think we're a year or two away. Other needs should be filled first.

Agreed. If it comes down to it, HOF Ed Dickson would be a decent enough fill-in and we'd shift away from passing to the TE.

I don't think we should draft one at all except as a BPA. Seems easy enough to trade for one or get a solid FA. Gary Barnidge was on the roster for years and he just broke out for the Browns.

Agreed. Just get the best overall weapons and adjust the offensive attack to complement them.
