CBM: X-Men '97; Deadpool and Wolverine trailer

i have not read many reviews but so far this season and last are what it is. good comic book tv. most of us probably never thought something like this would ever make it onto the screen big or small. fortunately we are living in a world that figured out a lot of us nerds will pay money for this entertainment so they are taking it seriously for the fans and that has often translated to more mass appeal.

i for one am thankful to our new marvel over lords.

Yeah I agree. It's all well and good if something gets critical acclaim, but historically, the comics medium has been subject to critical derision. I mean, that the Atlantic even pays attention to Daredevil is something I would have bet against 15 years ago.

So, will "Born Again" be the basis for S3 or S4? They weren't exactly subtle in hinting that it's coming.

I wasn't impressed with the progress Melvin's made with the Stilt-Man armor from S1 to S2. Maybe that's just a passion project he's working on in his spare time.

That's true. Was your post intended to be a counter to mine?

I really don't understand what you're going for. Did you think that "historically the comics medium has been subject to critical derision" meant that all comics properties ever have been critically panned? I'll certainly clarify if so.

Not all comics based properties, whether movie, tv show, comic book, or graphic novel, has been critically panned. Historically (this is a key word here) many critics over the years have indeed "hand waved" anything comics related as just being "funny books for kids". Maybe not so much in the last 5 years, 10 years, maybe not even 20, but certainly over its history.

my point was that DD shouldn't get a pass because up until the past 5 or 6 years non-cartoon comic adaptations have generally sucked.

That Atlantic review was just kind of strange. It almost had nothing to do with the actual show and more to do with the author's personal hand wringing over sex vs. violence in modern television. I mean...okay?

I haven't watched any more since saturday, but I've been saying for a long time that they would go with some variation of Born Again at some point. There's no way they don't do a S3 without Bullseye taking out either Karen or Elektra.

"Working" from home today. Ep 6 foggy is wearing a tie that appears to be covered with dragon flies. Am I vaguely remembering a villain dragon fly that had some tie to Elektra?

Dammit Ph, you're making me want to take a sick day.

My wife woke up this morning and said "I worried all night about Daredevil. Not dreamt...worried. I need to know what happens next. I need help."

I woke up my wife Sunday morning at 4:30 by saying "Holy shit!" at the ending of episode 5. I told her later yesterday, "I really wish you could stomach R-rated violence because you'd really love this show."

But its so easy to fast forward with netflix (unlike amazon for instance) she could easily watch it separate and ff with the little screen caps.

I checked the Marvel wikia and there is indeed a Dragon Fly. She has a typical convoluted history for an old school B-level Marvel villain, having interactions with the X-Men, Captain America on up to the Stranger and Quasar. I didn't find any connection to Elektra, but her Bacon number for Daredevil is only 2 though, she joined a group called the Ani-Men after they fought him (waaaay back in DD#10).

No doubt most details on the show are at least worth considering as an Easter Egg, but that one seems like a stretch.

Almost did the same thing near the end of Ep 8 even though it was even more deserved at the end of Ep 8. Wow.

How is this show getting mediocre reviews? I don't get it.

Told myself I wasn't going to watch another episode, but here I am.

The reveal at the end of 8, even though I figured it out in the courtroom, was still very fulfilling. Was really hoping that character was going to be back this season.

Impressive bench press. Would love to see his deadlifts.

Ruh roh, looks like my cockeyed optimism may well be misplaced. Even EW and IGN were lukewarm (C+ and 6.8 respectively, and neither of those reviewers exactly need a movie to be Citizen Kane to get a high score.

I'm shocked that their strategy of having a theater full of Snyder's family and friends tweet positive things didn't help build momentum!
