Disney World Tips and Tricks

Are you planning on take a mid-day nap on that Sunday? I ask because, unless you don't operate on much sleep now, you might want to plan on it for this event. While the race starts at 5:30 a.m., you have to be there by 4:00 a.m. (when Disney closes the roads). You are probably looking at a 3:00 a.m. wake-up, even if you staying at a Disney resort.

I'm thinking I'll be running on adrenaline. I don't know how well I'll be doing it, but I'll be doing it.

There was once before when I took a red eye to Cali to spend a day before a conference at Disneyland. I remember standing in line at the Haunted Mansion at midnight (Pacific), not really remembering where I was anymore.

I'll be there too! (as a guest) S.O. and her dad will be doing the half together and then we've definitely planned on them taking an afternoon nap before the event at night.

I have used the adrenaline idea pre-run as well. Then, after getting up at 3:00 a.m., running 13.1 and walking around the park for a couple of hours, the adrenaline is gone by about 6:00 p.m. Think about it, if you are done by around 8:30 a.m. and go back to the room to shower and then immediately go to the park, you are in the park around 10-11:00 a.m. Spend the next 7-8 hours walking around the park (walking another probably 5-6 miles in the process), you have pretty much exhausted any adrenaline in your body, not to mention your body in general. And the 7-8 hours only gets you to the 5-7:00 p.m. range. You would still have another 7-9 hours if you were planning on staying in EPCOT till 1:00 a.m.

I'm not running it this year, but am planning on being there cheering runners on as one of my best friends from Wake is doing his first-ever half there, with his wife. I have found it is pretty fun to be there and just cheer people on as well. So wear some Deac gear, I'll give a yell if I see you.

Interesting. So many races (most) are in the morning it was fun to do that one at night and end at Epcot around midnight. Good luck though!

There's a strong rumor that Disneyland and Disney World will transform Tower of Terror into a Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
http://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/...laxy-ride-and-its-not-completely-full-of-crap

As far as the ride goes, guests would be given a tour of The Collector’s mansion. The ride would still feature the drop sequence of the current ride but all other aspects of the ride would be changed.

Disneyland frequently features ride overlays. The overlays take permanent rides, such as Haunted Mansion or Space Mountain, and give them new themes with a fully different ride experience.

Seems like a weird fit. They definitely need to retheme Tower of Terror and Rockin' Rollercoaster. Twilight Zone and Aerosmith are outdated. I'd rather see them retheme around Pixar to fit Toy Story Land or retheme around classic Disney villains to match Fantasmic.

I love the theme of the Tower of Terror. I wish Aerosmith would go away though.

Tower of Terror has a classic theme. Rockin' Rollercoaster should retheme.

Tower of Terror seems like a Disney icon at this point. That would be a mistake.

I recently heard this rumor as well. The point that was made where I heard it was that millennials and younger don't know Twilight Zone. It hasn't even been on television since 2003. Pretty much all the changes going on at Disney now has to do with appealing to millennials and they just don't feel Twilight Zone appeals. Also, by switching to Guardians of the Galaxy, it is a way for Disney to get some Marvel into their Orlando parks without breaking the exclusive contract Universal has on (most of) the Marvel characters, because Guardians are specifically mentioned in that contract.

Another reason for the possible change is that Disney doesn't own the rights to Twilight Zone. In fact, CBS does. After the fiasco with Avatar Land and James Cameron, Disney isn't keen on working with someone else's property. They like having complete control of what they do.

Heard yesterday that Disney is backing off the Guardians of the Galaxy re-theming of Tower of Terror and is now actually looking at doubling down on Twilight Zone. Apparently, there is a small room in the facility that is currently used for storage that they are considering changing into a bar, much like how they created the tequila bar at the Mexico pavilion in EPCOT. It would be themed along with Twilight Zone. The people creating the Edison at Disney Springs are supposedly being tapped for theming this bar as well.

I'd rather see a brand new attraction for GotG. Hope they actually do Big Hero 6 at Epcot.

The Jungle Book had a huge $103.6 million opening. I've always wondered why there was no Animal Kingdom area devoted to the animated film. It would make plenty of sense to build an area for the new film. More than Avatar at least. I'm not aware of any Indian restaurants on property.

I still can't wrap my head around an Avatar themed area being a good idea. It really makes no sense to me.

I assume they stuck with the whole original Beastly Kingdom concept they couldn't afford when it opened. Avatar seems to make more sense internally than to us.

Say a quote from Avatar without looking it up. I know I can't and I'm sure I'm not alone, which is insane for the #2 grossing film of all time.
