Wake Baseball

From Thursday:

“Our goal is to win the thing,” coach Tom Walter said. “Our goal is not to go 1-2 and just win a game."

GJGE

A better season with with some very good moments (2 out of 3 vs FSU, 3 game sweep vs UNC, 2 ACCT wins and 1 NCAAT win).
The 3 stars; 1. Will Craig 2. Parker Dunshee 3. Gavin Sheets.

Our #2, 3, and 4 starters need more consistency, our bullpen must get substantially better ( I don't think it can get worse), and our offense will have to be rebuilt with the losses of Rodriguez, Conway, and Craig, who is probably gone to pro ball.

Still, as I believe I said earlier in this thread, it's nice to be in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, especially considering the lack of success our men's basketball and football teams have had over the last few years.

I have no idea about the numbers, but this has to be one of our best Directors Cup years in a long time. Almost all of our non-revenue sports were in the postseason I think

I think we'll end up in the low 60s.

I still believe that we can this seasons success to recruits in order to get them to Wake. We have had a pretty good year and this team deserves credit. I have great hope for this team and football... Basketball on the other hand :slash:

Our schedule did us some favors IMO. Only had to go on the road to 3 other teams that made the ACCT (we went 2-7 in those games). If we get somebody else besides ND or VT maybe we don't make the ACCT and don't get in.

Hope we can build on this but there seem to be plenty of reasonable doubts as to whether that will be the case

If Dunshee leaves, Wake will not have anything close to a Friday starter. I'm assuming Mondou stays to work on his draft status after an okay season. ( I say this realizing he was All-ACC but those who have followed him would agree that much more was expected. If you take away his series at BC where he raked, his numbers were quite ordinary.) Sheets emerged and Fairchild is solid. Third base and the corner outfield positions seem to be open. My hope is Harvey comes back from injury and assumes the catching duties and Aiello can find a way to put the ball in play. Pitching still looks weak even with Dunshee. The bullpen is bad and will lose Craig and a semi reliable guy in Kelly. Garish and Sellers were basket cases down the stretch. Walter and the Deacs have a lot of work to do and I congratulate them on their success this year. I will not miss following Gametracker and Livestats most days. Go Deacs! Best of Luck to all players moving on next year.
