Good bourbon

Drinking our upcoming boards pick while watching the game tonight. Pretty damn tasty...I hope y'all like it as well!

Picked up a bottle of Stagg Jr. in Annapolis, MD over the weekend for $60. Excited to give it a try this evening. Never see this one in NC.

Actually didn't open it yet. Went with a pour of Willett 8 yr rye instead. Which is one of my favorites.

Going to be in Orlando the last week of June. Any liquor store recommendations in that area?

Got some terrible news today. Joined the Wake County pappy wait list in Jan 2014 at #289. Moved to #170 in 2015. Down to #77 and things looking quite good for this fall. Also #124 on BTAC in 2015, down to #60 for 2016.

Then, Wake County announced on June 22 they are disbanding the wait lists effective immediately. A little ticked off, frankly. They don't know how they are going to distribute yet, could a few bottles to every store, could be first come first served at a handful of stores, could be a lottery. Nonetheless my odds went from 90+% to maybe 2%. The real pisser is that in NC we pay standard retail...no gouging.

On the good news front, the state ABC board continues to add new brands (ie, OGD114) and in the fall they will be adding Weller 12 and Rock Hill Farms. Still will be quite hard to find I'm sure, but it will be out there.

On a side note, the state warehouse currently shows overstock on Stagg Jr and OWA so keep your eyes open. Also Booker's Rye will be hitting stores shortly if anyone wants to drop $300.

I am on the email list for Mecklenburg County and they got some Weller 12 in last week. I didn't make the cut to get any.

I can't find the Hillrock rye. The Solera aged bourbon is quite good tho.

I haven't had much bourbon in a while but poured a solid Buffalo Trace store pick, Elijah Craig (aged stated), and finally OWA flight tonight. It feels odd to get back into bourbon when it's hot as hell. Should have made more mint juleps before the summer heat and drought beat up my garden mint.
