Video Game Thread - $70 Zelda Expansion!

Thanks for pointing this out. I backed it. Only $8 to get a copy of the game isn't bad. I've backed a few things in the past, and while not all of them have come out yet, none of them have just walked away with my money either.

I'm afraid (hurf durf) that it'll be like FEAR and I won't be able to finish it.

I was going to replay Fallout 4 since I kind of broke the story by playing nice with all the factions but decided to buy Skyrim instead. I already kind of miss having guns instead of swords but I like just it one hour in.

Never played Skyrim before so I just picked it up Friday and well, damn. The music and landscapes are amazing

I miss the targeting system in Fallout that would let me see somethings level. I keep walking up to dudes, hitting them then dying instantly. Guess I need to be a little more cautious.

also, why are you walking up to dudes at all? melee run? and even then, you should be using sneak + blitz, which might be the most OP skill combo in the game

"walking up and dying instantly" is not really something I've ever experienced with FO4

I sort of employ the "see thing, kill thing" strategy. Realized pretty quickly I wasn't going to be killing giants so I leave them alone now.

In Fallout 4 I would lock on from a distance and then decide if they were worth trying to use bullets on.

Here's a question: am I going to be encountering spiders throughout Skyrim? I HATE spiders and would not sign up for a game where they are a constant bad guy. Ugh.

usually there are a couple archers in the area but more importantly, mages. As a melee character, you can die pretty quickly if you're swinging a sword at a guy and you're getting plinked from afar and some dude is sapping your stamina with ice bolts.

spiders are somewhat common more in the mountains and caves, less so in castles and dungeons. the game levels enemies so eventually you'll see few of them

There are mods out there to replace all spider textures/etc with more friendly animals if you're really scared of em.

While you're at it, you can replace the dragons with Thomas the Tank Engine or Macho Man Randy Savage!

Tim, this clip of my stream is just for you: https://youtu.be/FWyl1kLgdlI?t=55m52s

Hard to believe there are skyrim virgins out there. Enjoy.

I bought it for PS4, but put it down after realizing that if you wanted to combo spells, you could have your 2, but anything after that you had to pause, toggle, equip, unpause. That killed it for me. I've wondered if it was different for PC players.

eh, you can put them in your quick menu, just like the guns in FO. Not difficult to switch on the fly.

This could go in the "unpopular opinions" thread too, but I got Skyrim soon after it came out and played about 3-4 hours. After an overwhelming feeling of "meh" I put it aside and haven't touched it in about 4 years. I think it's a genre thing, I'd give any of the Mass Effect games another playthrough before delving into some sword and sorcery business. In summary - sci fi: good; fantasy: whatevs.

I can relate to this. I've watched my buddy play a lot of Skyrim, and I'm seen some on youtube. I've owned it pretty much since it came out, but for whatever reason never really played it. I installed the SE over the weekend, and I intend to get to it sometime soon, but every time I've thought "huh, I should play Skyrim" over the past couple of days, I've been overcome by massive feelings of MEHHHHHHHH

Also never played Skyrim, I was out of video games when it came out.

How does it compare to The Witcher 3? Things I loved about the Witcher: story, awesome characters, endless side quests, combat. Things I didn't love: crafting.
