Likely indictment

Colin Kaepernick is a leader to me.

He "stands" up for an injustice in the face of adversity, puts his money where his mouth is, and generates youth conferences to help make the change he preaches.

I find it fascinating that an MVP QB who led his team to the Super Bowl isn't considered a leader.

I guess they should vote for this award after the superbowl

nope wrong again. Not in a football qb team context.

In other ways yes.

so your not going to answer the question?

Well in the context of a locker room or a qb of a football team.

Someone that sets an example. Someone people can look to when things are not going their way. Someone that will take criticism in the good times and the bad. Someone that motivates people. Someone that doesn't make excuses.

There are lots of different types of leaders. Ones that lead by example some are vocal leaders. One common thing leaders don't do is pout and whine.

I appreciate that response. I can see why you wouldn't consider Cam a leader. Do you consider Donald Trump a leader?

I knew you were baiting for this. You are so predictable. I will answer your "gotcha" question when you answer mine. What about Cam do you think makes him a leader.

What a start to the thread. Come for the moonz meltdown, but stay for the 8xDeac veiled racism.

A leader is someone people follow. That's it. I try to avoid projecting my own values on leadership, as it's a relatively neutral concept. I think there are plenty of leaders that I don't like or wouldn't follow. Doesn't make them less of a leader. I don't assume nobility comes with leadership. Throughout his entire football career - HS, Blinn JC, Auburn, Panthers - his teammates have followed him. He plays tough and loose, typically, and his teams tend to embody that personality.

Now your turn, based on your definition of a leader:
Someone that sets an example. Someone people can look to when things are not going their way. Someone that will take criticism in the good times and the bad. Someone that motivates people. Someone that doesn't make excuses.

Which boxes does Trump check?

Sets an example?
People can look to when things aren't going their way?
Takes criticism in the good times and the bad?
Motivates people?
Doesn't make excuses?
Doesn't pout and whine?

Which of those describe Donald J Trump? Or do you have a higher expectation for 20-something NFL QBs than Presidents?

Also, as an aside, you really seem to like to use the term "bait", why do you think that is?

I'm sure this post will get a typical: "but look at Hillary !" nonresponse, and that's fine.

I find it baffling.

All one has to do is google "Cam Newton charity work" and see how much of an asset he is to the city of Charlotte. Hates losing, sure, but loves making people (especially children that look up to him) happy. Best part? No political motivation behind it. It's really all about helping the kids.

I'll never like him because of this:

Pisses me off more now that he's been exposed as a system QB.

Lol playing qb by rule puts you in a leadership position. Cam is an awesome player and has always won. He has never had to handle adversity in football until the NFL. First sign of any adversity Cam has crumbled. Failed at every turn. You can be the most valuable player and not be a leader. You can be a great football player and not be a leader. I know PH doesn't understand it. Cam is a leader by way of he is his teams qb but he is not a good leader or one that I would respect. We keep making excuses for him. Hes a kid, hes got some growing to do and that may be true but it is not racist to have the position that he is a bitch.

Hates losing. lmao. I love this one. Does Russell Wilson, Brady, Manning hate losing? everyone Professional hates fucking losing. Now its a compliment to his leadership qualities that he handles losing like a bitch. Also just so you know Charities are great but they simply say yes I would like to start a charity and people do all the work for them and then they show up. This isn't mother Theresa shit.

So two things:

First, Cam didn't face any adversity at Auburn? He didn't face any adversity when he left Florida to go to Blinn? Cam didn't face any adversity when the team struggled mightily early on? That's an interesting take, but ok, sure never faced adversity.

Second, you didn't really answer my questions about Trump. This is the politics board after all.

I would like to add your criteria of handling adversity to my list of questions about Trump. What adversity has he overcome?

Is Bill Belichek a leader?

Also, I assume you feel the same way about Trump's visit to Louisiana? How, exactly, has Trump handled losing? We have some ideas based on how he has handled the very idea of losing.
