Wake Forest's own Tommy Elrod caught leaking football information to other teams

And we were still winning in the 4th quarter.

Wake was not winning by much however. The question whose answer is unknowable is whether Wake might have been ahead by a lot more in the first half if those new plays, not on film Louisville had available, had been available for Wake to use and might they have led to touchdowns instead of field goals. The game looks a lot different if Wake is ahead 28-3 instead of 12-3.

If that was information passed on to Army prior to this year's game, that's potentially huge.

Guessing that it is in relation to Coach Mac....can I get an IU to close it out? (Knorr last year). Army was probably since 2014, since Mac has been there that long I believe.

More Gems....

"Another aspect to this situation and why it is being blasted is because of the media involvement. This is Donna Brazil passing on the CNN questions. This is Jake Trapper hooking up with the DNC. This is the dirty press passing on ill gotten gains.
This is about the crooked media."

"In my own mind, which, is the only one I really care about, this is all bs. The media, per usual, sensationlizing a very minor thing and creating a news story with their own narrative. I swear to goodness, the media stirs every pot in the world. They literally create stories/problems that do not exist. They talk about fake news, they are the author of that as well. They're an absolute joke."

The joke is blaming this on the media.

A big question now is whether he shared this info with any program other than one with former Grobe assistants on staff.

It's so very Wake Forest, and not in a good way, that a previous football player would represent a teammate and coach who is accused of selling the program down the river. Unless Elrod is absolutely 100% innocent, Quander is going to end up looking foolish and losing some friends/acquaintances over this. His ship is now tied to Elrod's from a Wake perspective. Hell, seeing as he's been a lawyer for Wake athletes in the past, it seems odd that he'd now put himself at odds with the AD. Can't be good for future business. The fact that he took the case actually stands out as a red flag to me against the AD's argument, though I still have trouble believing the evidence isn't overwhelming considering everything else surrounding the announcement.

He's a lawyer dude. That's what lawyers do. Everyone deserves representation, no matter how unpopular they are. If you were a lawyer and your buddy got in legal trouble, I'm sure you'd try to help out too.

Goodnight Galloway. You can cry your soon to be fired ass to asleep in the Louisville gear you received on your first day.

Are there people actually blaming Wellman and the AD for putting Elrod in a position where his morals could be compromised? Do you also blame Budweiser when someone gets a DUI?

This is more like handing your drunk buddy your keys.

Those emails texts and phone logs have not yet been released. Wake has shared its information with the ACC office. Wake is probably giving the other schools involved an opportunity to do their own investigations and provide that information to the league office.

Louisville needed to do something pretty quickly because they were already named publicly in this. I would expect other schools to be making statements in the coming weeks. Or not. Just may see some assistant coaches "resigning" with no specific next job.

To be fair, Louisville didn't act quickly. This came out a month ago. They say on it.

Now that I have the Louisville statement, as a WF alum I'm furious with Elrod. He had the legal right to do this but it's wrong. We should have never fired a man then shared our future plays with him. Elrod is a traitor. We are negligent for not recognizing that he could be.

You keep using these words. I don't think they mean what you think they mean.

I had just about forgotten our genius co-offense coordinators and how we split out the special teams units to individual position coaches (kickoff return coach, punt block coach, fake field goal coach, etc.) at the end of Grobe's tenure. What a goddamn disaster.

Are we saying that Wellman should have had the foresight to see Elrod was a rat when no one else in the world did? Seems like a high standard, even for someone as hated as Wellman.

Elrod's not your common disgruntled employee who was let go. For christ's sake there was a coaching change; assistants are rarely retained as new coaches have their own men they want to bring with them. Also Elrod is an alum. If you can't trust an alum of your school and football program who can you trust? I do wish people would stop trying to "distribute blame" on anyone other than the guilty party.
