So how exactly did this happen?

Are you serious? You care less for the working poor than any other poster I can think of.

Funny, because the working poor voted for the candidate my party nominated over the nominee of your party. It's almost like you're too arrogant to recognize that not everybody believes the self-congratulatory narrative about yourself that you're clearly drunk on. Weird, right?

One day you'll learn that some people have different ideas that aren't wrong. Evidently, that day still isn't here. Imagine my surprise. The only good news is that your party is running out of elections to lose. Rock bottom's got to be around here somewhere, right?

I'm fairly certain Hillary got 3 million more votes, and the average income of her voters was lower than Trump's, also not sure how that's relevant to your long history of posts regarding the working poor not needing or deserving any more protections or greater benefits.

The only way in which typical fiscal conservatives like you seek to help the "working poor" is by unburdening corporations from taxes and regulation.

Because I don't agree with your ideas, I must not care. Perhaps this is the self-congratulatory, arrogant and wildly inaccurate part of your message that didn't appeal to nearly 60 million people.

Congrats again on the popular vote. When you're done cleaning up after the victory parade, maybe you could try growing up?

you know, i live in a very RED area, and being GOP seems to be very machismo to the working class. i think, based on conversations, that they know little about platforms or candidate voting history. you throw in a few good catch phrases (lock her up, build the wall, etc.) and line up against Hillary they would have nominated a fucking dog for PEOTUS. even though they are paycheck to paycheck working class. i am not sure when or how that came about, but it was like that in Texas as well.

i will never understand those that vote without doing some research on the candidates.

I loved this post. I too want to offer my congratulations on winning the popular vote. I have to say it was quite a feat and although we can not be certain if Trump could have won it if he had focused more effort in this important part of the election he had to settle with the electorate vote landslide and the presidency. Before you exit stage left please pick up your participation ribbons on way out.

You believe this phenomenon is limited to one party?

Correct. I've met a lot of Democrats. Not all of them are as wise as they think they are. Sorry to break news.

So you admit that some are as wise as they think they are. But they might not think they are very wise, thus meeting only a low standard. Sad..

yeah, around where I live (and especially work) you heard people calling her a cunt or bitch and that's why they aren't voting for her. toss in some threats that their guns will get taken away and taxes will get raised and it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Coincidental how a closer examination of jhmd's feelings towards the working poor suddenly gets turned into a partisan pissing match. It's almost like someone wants to change the subject.

Hell, I'll open this up to the floor - what are some conservative/Trump ideas for helping the working poor that don't involve lowering corporate taxes or lowering corporate regulations?

if you mean the one party voting, no i don't think that is limited to one party. it is a damn shame IMO. should be some sort of test before voting or just line by line Q/A to determine who they vote for.

my real question is when did voting GOP become machismo to working class, especially when DEMs try to make policy to assist the working class. DEMs seem to be viewed as hippies or elitists, but most i know are educated and come from working class families. just personal observations...DEM leaning (only due to social issues) Independent.

I suppose in theory, nothing says you ever have to grow up. You can stay at your current state in perpetuity. That's frightening but I guess it is true. Gross.

You just keep going on and on about all your political theories to help the working poor. Thank you so much for enlightening us all.

Because people realize that they don't, in fact, assist in the working class in the long run. How many closed factories in the rust belt do we need as evidence that Dem's well-intended, short-term thinking doesn't actually work. I'll agree to "try", but the facts have a problem when it comes to "do."

When Dems rush out laughable, unsustainable, naive things like a $15.00 minimum wage, you can actually measure their failures to help working class people by the innovation their policies trigger in automation. In the race to help working poor, many Dem policies win the proverbial popular vote.

A closed factory in Michigan isn't a theory to the people who lost their jobs, champ. The paychecks written at new plants in the South aren't fictional either. Congrats again on the popular vote.
