The narrative is America is in decline and Trumps rhetoric pandered to a subset of Americans that are racist etc and also white uneducated males.
If you factor in Obama won 2012 and Hillary lost in part because alot of Obama voters in 2012 changed to Trump in 2016.
If all of this is facts we accept to be true then how does Obama leaving office with one of the highest approval ratings ever at 63 percent square with the above narritive ?

I'm confused about the "American is in decline" part of your post. I don't think that's part of the the liberal narrative?

Also I don't think that Obama voters switching to Trump are a main reason why Trump one. I think it's more that Obama voters stayed home.
