Official '16-17 NBA Thread: not with a bang but a whimper

The Sixers are in deep talks to send forward-center Jahlil Okafor to the Pelicans, a source told @theundefeated. New Orleans could send center Alex Ajinca and a future 1st rounder back. USA Today 1st broke the story.

Quite the HOF Frontcourt the Pellies are close to acquiring. But which of the two stars will be remembered as the better player?

Why would they want another center? It should be New Orleans' 1st Round pick for this year. In the future they will be better. This sounds like a weak trade.

Heild instead of Ajinca?

It would be highway robbery to get a protected first for Oak at this point. If it includes a salary dump like Ajinca, fine. Though there's speculation about Jrue too.

Ajinca doesn't any real money to dump. He'll make under $11M over the next two years. That's not much.

Okafor averaged 17.5 ppg last year and is averaging 11.4 ppg this year in limited minutes and while injured. He's worth more than a protected 1st Round pick.

He can't defend, he can't rebound and literally nobody wants him. It was an utterly wasted pick and the Sixers should bite off the hand of anyone that will give them a 1st round pick for him and just move on. Bad picks happen, bad teams compound the mistake by not moving on immediately once they recognize that.

Hinkie doesn't make bad picks . But man kristaps with that team is scary. But then again they don't get Simmons or someone if that happens

He can rebound, but has been lazy in Philly. A change of venue might help. He can score better than most bigs. Playing next to another big who is a defender makes him have value.

Someone like Joel Embiid, you mean?

And in the least surprising move ever since Lebron complained about his owner a few weeks ago

LeBron James is leaning on the Cleveland Cavaliers' front office to use Kevin Love if needed in a deal to acquire Carmelo Anthony from the New York Knicks, the New York Daily News has reported, citing a league source.

eh, Davis is showing a little better in DRPM, but suffice to say they're both fairly close. Big Surprise to me was how strong AFA shows per that metric. #15 in the league.

Then again that same metric has Lebron and Kawhi behind Luke Babbitt and Paul Pierce.
