Unpopular opinions

Not a perfect analogy, but there are a shit-ton of wineries. That isn't a fad. I can't tell the difference between most wines beyond "red" and "white," but to many people it is a big deal.

Craft beer seems pretty similar. A shitty IPA is a shitty IPA to me, but clearly some people can tell the difference.

What beer do you drink 2&2?

Generally anything unpretentious. Miller Lite, High Life, Coors, Coors Lite, Yuengling, PBR, Corona are all fine with me. I've tried probably a few hundred craft beers over the years before I acknowledged that I was being conned and didn't really notice a difference or care. I'll go with OMB Copper draft once in a while, but usually only if it is the same price as anything else.

Hipster

I was going to post a :wtf: response to 2&2's last, but realize:
1. it's not worth it, and
2. he did, in fact, post his opinion in the appropriate thread.

No, I want everyone to keep giving their spicy takes on the beer industry. Keep it going!

Aside from personal taste/quality, craft beers are usually much higher gravity so the extra cost is negated by having to drink fewer of them. The amount of domestic light beers it would take to get me drunk is daunting. However there are times where that fits the occasion and I do enjoy domestic beers sometimes. I think it's dumb that some people can't even drink a domestic here or there now, not even have one Bud Heavy from the bucket... have to have an Atomic Hopsplosion 420 Imperial IPA or nothing.

I have bad news for 2&2... Mich Ultra and Modelo are more likely to replace those craft taps than Banquet and High Life.

However! Most restaurants and bars, even if they aren't craft specific, carve out tap space for crafts.

lol I mean how do you not know the difference between drinking a Hoppyum IPA and a PBR?

That's what I mean by the aging of the target demographic: as the millennials age, drinking to get drunk is much less important, so that part of the cost justification is lost.

It's just like liquor. Those top shelf fads fell off eventually. Everyone just wants to enjoy the smooth taste of Aristocrat.

Coffee is probably a good comparison. Went from Folgers to tons of local and specialty options.

The really good (by consensus), really limited stuff is kind of unique for beers. There is limited stuff in wine and liquor, but pretty easy to obtain if you have the money (generally)

right, so if you're not drinking to get drunk, the argument for craft is even greater. If you're only going to have one or two, have one or two that actually taste like something more than dirty water.

Of course 2&2 is entitled to his opinion, it just astounds me how many bad takes on so many different things one human being can have. Are you going for the guinness book record on bad takes (pun intended)?
