Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

Wow. Ramos going in on Schalke for their unwillingness to release players for the U20 World Cup. Sounds like Fiorentina also wouldn't release Perez. Interesting.

“Schalke was pretty straight-forward with, ‘Our U-19s are more important than your national team, so they’re going to stay here until we’re done playing’. That’s something for our young players to look at. When they go to Europe, sometimes you sign for a club that thinks your national team is not important at the youth level, so you have to deal with that."

He did mention Perez was recently injured so maybe that's a factor.
 
So what kind of impact will the combined North America bid have on games for 2026?

How does the potential travel compare to other WC sites?

Is it still going to be a majority of matches played in US? Any chance Charlotte gets chosen as a match site?

Hey, sorry for the consistent ticket requests, but due to the seating restrictions, I am looking for one ticket in AO section 115. If you have one or know of anyone that has one, please let me know. I have feelers out on the AO message board, but I am not confident in that source. Thanks in advance for any help!

Just use the two separate tickets to get into the stadium then text your bud a screenshot of your ticket to his phone. Pull it up and walk into the same section together :plos:

Really excited for Gabe. I've known him since he was just a little kid tagging along to our son's games while his dad coached. Go Rapids (but you'll always be North Meck to me)!

Sucks for Zelalem, but he was lost before the injury. Was dropping back to DM to pickup the ball and it wasn't working. The kid that came in for him, Jones, was a beast. He'll start moving forward. I keep writing off this Sargent kid (probably the hair) and then he scores every game. Not excited about the next 8 hours at work but at least it was a very entertaining match to watch.
 
What an awful gaffe by Klinsmann. He had a simple ball to play wide left, got cute, got burned. Great strike by de la Torre to salvage a tie.

Sargent is pretty ridiculous. Kid's still 17? All he does is score.

I just couldn't do it. Woke up for every game in 2002, but I'm too old now. ;)
