It's Greek to Him: Another Dino(s) Gone After 3 Seasons, Signs With Panathinaikos

Nobody in Greece pays taxes though. People laugh at you if you do. That is why they are in such bad shape economically.

That was the joke that I already explained.

I'm happy for Dinos. And I don't think he mislead the coaching staff. But decent ACC players never have an issue finding Euro deals making good money. The Greek league is maybe the 9th best international league. Maybe it was playing for this specific team, one of the best in that league, that made the deal too good to turn down.

He's playing for Panathinaikos. If you're Greek, then this is as good as it gets.

Bad news for Wake in the short term, but kudos to Dinos for landing a solid pro gig. wish him best of luck. hope he will tell all the undiscovered young Greek ballers how great the Greek food in Winston-Salem is. Get that Athens pipeline primed up for Danny.

Danny's response shows that the staff was very likely involved with giving Dinos advice like they gave JC advice.

Or just controlling the narrative.

Unfortunately, there was not a co-ed remaining at Wake to keep Dinos here another year. That's what it boils down to because we all know you will push out the $500,000 and buying your first awesome apt/house for one year in exchange for some sweet college "experiences."

But I assume it is the same argument as we have made with others. Signing 1 year early allows him one extra year of player money. He will play until he is 35. He is charismatic. We will see him on the sidelines in 20 years.

If that is the case then that is a pretty sweet deal for Dinos. Still lost all respect for the kid for going around the coaching staffs back. Low class move.

Seems pretty low class to make this accusation with out solid proof.

Good to know people don't use message boards to make accusation anonymously with little proof.

Seems like the staff telling a reporter they talked to Dinos and he said he wasn't considering leaving is solid proof fwiw.

To be fair, there is a good chance that Panathinaikos came back with a completely different offer than they had earlier in the week/the week before.

There have been conflicting reports on when exactly he received the offer, as several Greek outlets were reporting that it was done last week.

For the first offer...

As others have pointed out, 4/2M is not far off from the contract slot for the last pick of the first round. Of course a guy who isn't a NBA prospect is going to take that deal.

As I said earlier, this is a great offer and a great deal for Dinos. He gets to go back home and play for a great club, plus make great money. Kudos to him for developing into this type player under the tutelage of Danny Manning and staff!

For the first offer...

Still think if he said I am not committed at the moment but we are still in open negotiations with the team, then the staff would not have reported in the manner they did.

For what it is worth if somebody gave me the opportunity at his age to move home and be a millionaire I would have done it to.

That is what is sketchy about it. Is there any chance that if he signed the offer without officially dropping out of the program we could face NCAA violations?

Exactly, it's sketchy, but not conclusive. Seems kind of dickish to condemn the kid until you know for certain he deceived the staff. But you're right this is an anonymous message board so sling your accusations, I guess.

The staff reported what was true at the time. At that time one of two things happened- there hadn't been an offer or it was a bad one.

Your opinion of his actions are totally without merit. Nothing he has ever done as a Deac would lead anyone to thinking what you posted. You made something up out of whole cloth and insulted a young man who has done everything correctly for his entire time with our university. Your post was outrageous and insulting to Dinos without a shred of evidence to justify your position.

I'm sure Dinos is losing sleep over it. FFS

Took your stance on Rondale and channeled it into my opinion on Dinos.

My guess about the situation is that there was a first offer which was refused. There may have been some leakage to the media about this, perhaps to pressure Dinos some.

Then later there was a much better offer, the one he accepted. I'm sure Danny was aware of most, if not all of this.

Good luck to Dinos as he moves to the next phase of life. Make Danny look good as a big man coach.

Come back and finish that degree someday.

Once again you show your ignorance. My "stance" was Bz made a mistake but Rondale and his family did the right thing. This was clearly shown in the second thread.

You should listen to Lincoln (or as some think- Mark Twain) - "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."
