Official thread about the movie you just saw

Anyone here read "It"? I'm intrigued, but at 1100+ pages, it seems like quit the undertaking for a horror/suspense novel.

I gave it a try probably 25 years ago but didn't get too far but I'd chalk that up to being a tough read for an 11 year old. Someday I'd like to read both It and The Stand

Watched Miracle again with ITCwife b/c she had never seen it. Disney sure knows how to make a sports movie.

I read them back to back a few years ago. I liked The Stand more while reading but It stayed with me a little more.

It was just ok for me. Quick non-spoilery thoughts:

Obviously tough to build character for 8 kids (Losers + Henry) in 2 hours, but that was a weak point.

I subscribe to less is more with horror, and we see Pennywise way too much

Didn't think it nailed the tone. Was actually a little too funny. I think the wisecracks won't hold up on repeat viewings

I saw conair for the first time yesterday and nic cage has a very bad southern accent

We hardly saw Pennywise and more importantly was he really there every time he was on screen? He's not necessarily there in the reality of the movie. The Losers have their own fears and perceptions.

Liberache movie with Rob Lowe and Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, and the fella from Will Ferrel movies, and Dan Akroyd. Wow. What a cast. Movie is p ok so far, kind of boring unless the gay fellas make you nervous then I guess it would not be boring. Watching in stages. Will report back eventually

Woof... to each their own, but I thought the exact opposite. Pennywise felt like he was always present but you didn't see him that often. They built the story for each of the Losers perfectly. The kids had an incredible rapport and one of my favorite parts of the movie was how they dealt with their individual fears and issues outside of Pennywise. To me, It was one of the best horrors I've seen in years. It was a great mix of horror and a coming of age tale that, in my opinion, transcended the horror genre and didn't need a bunch of cheap jump scares.

Watched Baywatch over the weekend. Classic case of "everything funny was shown in the trailers". It's too bad, because there was some solid opportunity for consistent jokes. Perhaps The Rock isn't meant to carry a comedy.

So it was a raunchy comedy that wasn't true to this original?

Also went and saw "IT" this weekend. Was expecting the movie to be structured like the fist, bringing the kids back as adults "27 years later" and was a bit disappointed they didn't. I enjoyed the dialogue and thought the acting was great across the board though. My girl was pissed off she sat through it and was looking for cheap thrills...not the movie for her.

I'd give it a B-

I mean I disagree, but I don't want it to seem like I hated it. It was fine, but felt a like we didn't get much time meeting the Losers before we had the repetitive "each kid by himself to get harassed by Pennywise" I did enjoy the interaction of the kids giving each other shit like kids would, but that kind of lightened the mood too much. I prefer the kid's acting in this to the 1990 version, but that one I thought captured the dreariness of the setting better. Also, not sure how you can say it didn't need a bunch of jump scares when that was basically used in every horror scene.

Sequel coming out 2019. Gotta get that sweet sweet box office cash. This one opened at over $100M which is pretty crazy.

Dumbass

That's covered in the sequel
