CBM: X-Men '97; Deadpool and Wolverine trailer

Maybe they're figuring out how to build more around the success of Wonder Woman than the failures of the prior films.

By the way, I finally saw it last month on the last day it was in Eastern NC. It was quite good. I agree it's on par with a mid-tier MCU film, but that's still quite good. They should hand the reigns to Patty Jenkins for the rest of the DCEU. She gets it.

Adding to my list above, I'd put the last season of AOS and the first season of Agent Carter in the upper tier of MCU TV with the DD, LC, and JJ solo seasons. Season 2 of Agent Carter and Season 1 and Season 3 of AOS in the tier with the Defenders.

It will be interesting to see where Inhumans, Cloak and Dagger, and Runaways will fit in.

Whatever hardcore DC fanboys exist are getting drowned out. Most movie announcements show a lot of excitement in the replies but here... woof.

I want to be a friend to DC, I want to be in their corner but this business of stand-alone, outside the DCEU movies is not a winning solution. Go all in on a shared universe or a disconnected one, not this hodgepodge. They could have distinguished themselves from Marvel by going with stand-alone films, focusing on that particular story without making sure to reference (market) prior films. Now people are going to have to remember "is this movie official or not?"

So I can be an equal opportunity crapper-on - nothing has convinced me that Inhumans will be anything but a turd and anyone who spends IMAX money for the first ep (or is it 2?) is a dum dum.

At least we have the TV universe. The shows aren't great, but they're a lot of fun and don't take themselves too seriously.

Yeah. It's very impressive that we've gotten 12 total seasons between four shows in a shared universe that isn't centered around the trinity.

Is it worth trying to watch them in sequence? I may have to return to Arrow at this rate.

Not really. I caught up on Arrow after starting with Flash. I only watched Season 2 of Legends.

The crossovers are really the only reason you'd watch them in sequence, and the shared info there is mostly stuff like "oh, how are you guys doing with this season's big bad? oh, not good? oh" and relationship updates

also you get some terribad introductions to Legends of Tomorrow through Flash S2

CBM: Marvel's The Defenders premieres on Friday

The crossovers encouraged me to check out Legends.

The new Tick is out. Way different tone than the prior 2 incarnations for tv. I've only seen the 2nd ep (1st came out months ago) but I'm interested, even if it's not a laugh-a-palooza.

Yeah. I'm happy I watched it. It has a different tone than the other shows.

I’m pretty interested to see where they take Arrow in a post-flashback world. Prometheus was a great villain and should have a profound effect on Oliver, but they otherwise have a pretty clean slate for season 6.

S3 of Supergirl has a lot of potential as well, I think. Exploring the fallout of something as emotionally devastating as losing Mon-El has a lot of potential. It’s almost Kara’s “Tommy” moment (referencing Arrow).

I’m kinda meh on the Flash, UNLESS they really start a drive towards Crisis.

Today marks Jack Kirby's 100th birthday.

Evangeline Lilly celebrates by sharing her Wasp costume.

Ant-Man is probably the movie I was most surprised by with Guardians being a close second. Guardians 2 did a good job I thought of living up to my hype but not exceeding it so hopefully Ant-Man 2 can do at least as well.

Any thoughts on the Preacher finale last night? I thought they did a good enough job with it, but like the season as a whole there were some slow, illogical parts.

I still don't get why Jesse had to turn into an idiot the second they got to New Orleans. That undercut the story in a few different spots. Wish they had found something more interesting for Tulip to be doing at any point in the second half of the season. I didn't mind the Eugene/Hitler stuff all that much, and I thought they did a good job showing why Eugene would trust him by season's end, but a lot of that arc dragged, too. I dunno.

I read the newest Secret Wars recently. I thought it was good and I liked the tie ins to the original Secret Wars. They both started similarly with a completely overpowered being that's snuffed out right at the beginning and it ends with the Molecule Man saving the day.

I think the season dragged with 13 eps. The leads got tired. They spent way too much time in Denis' apartment. I thought they'd be in New Orleans for a few eps. Jesse isn't an appealing character. Tulip was.
